6 more sleeps till first marathon (London). This tapering business is hard isn't it. Reduced training plus a week on hols = 5lbs weight gain!!! Not good!
Read something about carb loading, any tips?
I hope it's not too warm on Sunday, I'm definitely a cold weather running, the heat does me in. Chilly with a little drizzle please!
Hi Rowie! Yes me too 5 lbs myself too. Thursday and Friday are my carb loading days. Using lucozade sport to top up as well as pasta, rice, wholemeal bread and maybe pizza. Saturday night will still get the carbs in but not the big feast. No idea if thats right though.
I am extremely relaxed now as my injury really hasnt healed fully and is still a little painful. It is what it is and physio happy for me to run but rehab after. So im jog walking the thing if need be.
Forecast is for coolest london marathon in years - a long way off is sunday but at 10 am its forecast to be 7C and 12c by 2. Pretty damn perfect as its overcast too. Given my training i am hoping for hail snow gales and horizontal rain
Sounds like mine Shedboy! I'll take those temps please! Especially after my mate did Paris and said it was 20C which wouldn't appeal to me at all!
Anyone else at the Expo on the Saturday? I'm flying down late Friday so it will be closed by the time I get there I think so will need to do the Saturday!
I am going Friday evening just before i eat my weight in pasta!
As my race plans went out of the window i thought it was a great opportunity to wear a Toga and will be doing it in fancy dress - and yes i know ive not tried the gear out running but will ditch it if need be. I am also looking for a beer or two on way round if anyone can help
FRC - Susan is running London this year. It is going to be quite something for her as it is her first Marathon since her operations and it is the first anniversary of the death of her best mate who she is running in memory of.
Hello I am happy excited and a bit less injured - so perfect!! Also 4 weeks and one run isnt ideal but hey ho.
The mum of the boy i am running in memory of sent me a photo of the two us (me and him) on a holiday when he was 7. I am printing it out and getting my kids to put some words on it and taking it on sunday. Nothing really but its why i am doing this and just wanted to share. Also Ikle you say what we all feel there!
I feel quite emotional and hope my body lets me finish.
Good luck to Susan, hope she will pop in with some of her famous wisdom. Someone wish her well (Howard?). Will be a wonderful day I'm sure.
Shedboy, sounds lovely. I've run with a photo a few times and it really does lift you. Just remember to stick to the plan, no mad on the day, "Heyyy.. I feel fine, I'm running all of this..". Aim is to finish, not break the world record.
Was going to post my orange shirt but on iphone and cant seem to. I will look for you at mile 18 ikle. No fancy dress just orange and black running vest and black shorts. I will hve various orange kt tapes on my right leg haha!!!
Oh apparently I already said I'm wearing my Manchester tee.
Personally the best most amusing piece of marathon I've ever heard, and I apologise in advance for being slightly rude, is: "Don't go out like a fanny."
I am going to fanny about a lot today doing not much but i promise!!! fRC this 3 litres of water and juice lark is having an effect on how long i can actually leave the hotel!! I am weeing for Scotland. Just got taped up i am feeling good but know my limitations for this one. I will look out for you ike tried to pm you a picture of vest as its distinctive and as im on the short side....
Thanks all will post details prob late sunday or monday depending on how drunk i get at planet hollywood afterwards.

And eat well. And sleep. Even nap if you can't sleep. Extra naps.

Howard - please wish Susan all the best from me. She taught me (through her user name) to run less...but run better
God bless Susan I say!

Good luck everyone.
Ikle its 24529
even with the "snow" forecast i promise not to try and push the Kenyans. Its simply finish.
Not Kenyan, but Susan and I both beat Haile Gabrselassie in 2007 who registered a DNF!
Good luck to you Shedboy and I would agree with you know who that Less is more when it comes to pace, particularly if your training hasn't been ideal.
Thanks Howard

Meaning ' don't go out too quickly'.
