I will try again but might just go and give virgin fifty pounds and not bother as I think you got more chance of getting a French kiss off the pope but who knows
Say you would get an entry into 2017 in the ballot, can you defer for whatever reason to 2018? And how much does it actually cost? Total marathon newbie and just asking in case...

Technically you can defer if you ill/injured and have up to 8pm the day before marathon to do so. As its online, you can defer for whatever reason. However I understand this may change in a few years.
Just to advise anyone wishing to enter, you have a 7% chance of getting a place. Last year 247,069 applied for 17,000 ballot places. So its a slim hope unless you a pretty fast runner or run for a charity.
They should go back to the old days when you went to a TSB Bank, paid £2 for a entry form, fill in your details, send the cheque, post it in a post box, wait until October for a small magazine or your entry form and cheque sent back unopened.
I would say possibly as the current GFA times seems to work. They can change them without warning. But any change may carry 5-10 minute difference. Normally they announce these the same day when the entry system opens.

I think I paid £35 this year, can't really remember, but I didn't give a reason when I deferred til 2017. You do pay again the following year.

How do you know there are 17000 ballot places? thought this was a closely guarded secret?
It is unless you know someone.

Doing it online takes the romance away.
