Ollie well done on the Sub 19 Park run and nice 9 miles for the day.
Cal well done on the Park run PB great running.
Tricalitt well done on the recce run in the sun hope your not to sun burnt.
MG1 nice easy Park run, good luck with the relay race tomorrow.
Teknik nice 9.5 miles with the club
Park run went well, went off a bit to fast for Buddy who suffered on the 3rd lap and had two water stops and a swim in duck pond. Nice to see the course record get broken by the young guy from a Belfast club. He ran past us on lap three to run 16:42 we came in second at 17:23 First mile was 5:01 so happy with that
NP - Ambitious pace to head out at for the 1st mile! Still a great time in the end though!
Tek - Well done on the steady 9 miles
MG - It must be chaos at parkruns with that many runners?? I think the biggest up here is Edinburgh, and even then it only usually hovers around 500. Good luck with the relay race today
Cal - Well done on the parkrun PB, and good luck for next weeks 10k
Olie - Very nice parkrun time, and good total for the day
yellow - Well done on the getting the hill intervals done
Stewart - So you finally got to the gym I can't say anything as I don't think I've been since last Saturday!!
NN - That's a quality 13 miles! Good effort
--------
I sorta done what I said I was going to do yesterday. 11 miles and up a 420m hill. But not exactly as originally planned. Felt a bit fragile yesterday morning after ended up in the pub after the football Granted that'll be nothing compared to how I'll feel next Monday if we win on Sunday!
So, over the course of yesterday I done:
3 mile recovery 4 mile hillwalking (we parked higher up than where I'd start my run) 8 mile jog
8 miles planned today, was thinking of adding in something faster but can't be bothered as I've got my long run tomorrow.
Thanks guys. My 2 mile race is in Hook. It's a new course as they use to do a 2.5 mile race. I've decided to send my chip back for the 10k I'd got in London in a couple of weeks time. I know I'm not ready for a 10k yet. I may see if I can get something more local August/September time.
Best of luck to MG1 in the relay and HM4 in the 2 mile race.
SC: Nice tri club session the other day, and body pump session yesterday. Hope today's run goes well. Teknik: Nice recovery run the other day, and 9.5 miles yesterday. SM6: Sounds like a good bout of running/hill walking yesterday, hope the 8 miles go well today. OH: Wasn't Red or Black also an ITV game show? I ain't so cultured as to watch Les Misérables. NN: Great going on the 13.25 miles in hot conditions, not the best to run in so nice work getting under 8:30 min/miles. Yellow52: Ah, scarlet, not heard that one yet. Nice treadmill session the other day. NP: Good running over the week, and fantastic parkrun yesterday, great time, what's the course like? Well done to the guy who broke the course record as well, bet that took some doing. Cal: Likewise, fantastic parkrunning yesterday, must have taken a lot of effort to make up that PB with time to spare as well, great stuff. Tricia: Good 19 miles yesterday, nice going, when's the next ultra planned for? Sounds like a nice plan to race the marathon as well. MG1: Thanks, first sub-19 in over a month or so. Massive turnout at your parkrun yesterday, hope your 10 mile leg goes well today. HM4: enjoy the 2 mile race in Hook. Hope you get in 10k shape by autumn time, keep at it.

18 miles from me today and first proper long run since the marathon. The weather started off cool with a nice, refreshing breeze... for less than half a mile before hot, hot, hot! Running by the canal, it was tempting to dive in to cool down but alas, I'd probably come out with 3 eyes or 10 arms knowing the state of the canal water... No idea on time or pace as it was a 'naked' run, i.e. without my trusty watch but seemed reasonable.
53.1 miles for the week, takes me over 1,000 miles for the year (1,003.2 miles).
Got to the start about 20 mins before which is leaving it a bit late for me however Chris decided he wasn't going to go at the last minute as he did something to his knee. However I did get there in time to see the 10 mile runners including Charlotte Purdue go past who went on to win the ladies race. So unfortunately I didn't get to have a good look at a course map first although it did look very similar to the previous years' 2.5 mile course in reverse and missing out a chunk at the top of the map.
I'd already decided since this was the first time in a long while I'd run 2 miles I was going to aim for 11:30 min mile pace I'd take things easy and found a dad and his little girl (who was doing her first race) to run with as they seemed to start out at the pace I wanted to run at. The first mile came and went in 11:18 and then we slowed considerable for the 2nd mile (12:04). By this time we had hit the finishing straight and I was definitely not prepared how quickly this little lass sprinted however all 3 off us managed to beat Elvis and the final split (.12 miles) came in at 7:24 pace. The mum (she did the 10 mile race) was waiting at the finish for her daughter and hubby and she also had a good race. I think she said she finished either 3rd lady overall or 3rd in her age group. Overall time was 24 min 16 (ave pace 11:26 min miles).
Ollie - That's a nice long run, don't think I'll be going that long for a while yet! Well done on passing 1000 for the year too I'll hopefully join you next week as I'm around 960 at the moment.
HM - Well done on the race
---------
8 miles ran this morning, and gym this afternoon. Uneventful.
SM6 thats a good couple of days training and gym work enjoy the MLR tomorrow
HM4 Well done on the race and report you should aim to do a Park run every week.
Ollie nice long run and naked nice to run on feel alone. Hope you managed to enjoy more sun during the rest of the day. Well done on the 1000+ miles for the year.
SM6 your right I think the first mile yesterday was a little on the fast side Out today for a nice 10 miles and like Ollie it started cold and finished with a little heat.
MG - hope the legs were still fresh for today's 10miles
NP - another good time, and blistering 1st split
And good training progress everyone else:
SM6 - hope the hangover's worn off, good miles even if you abandoned the idea of running up that hill.
Tricia - I love it that you run marathons for training. Kudos!
Tek - nice 9.5 miles with a brisky 7miles
---------
6 miles easy with some strides on Saturday.
Followed that with a tempo run today: another 6 miles with 3 just off 10k pace. 22 miles for the week, 470 for the year so far - it'll be a while before I join the 1000 mile club.
HM4: Nice racing yesterday, good that you found people to stick with and sounds like a strong finish, good stuff. SM6: Nice 8 miles clocked plus gym, hope the 15/16 miles go well today. Nice weekly and yearly mileage racked up too. NP: Cheers, did enjoy the sun whilst at a nice beer garden enjoying a nice post-long run recovery pint. Yellow52: Nice 6 miles on Saturday, and a good tempo run yesterday. Nice mileage totals totalled up as well.
- - - - - - - - - -
8 miles today, up a slight gradient, down a big hill, up a medium hill, down a medium hill, up a big hill, up a slight gradient. And then the fun part is doing it 4 miles in reverse. The hills are alive with the sound of plodding, seeing as I'm still taking the runs easy.
NP, A very speedy first mile at parkrun on Saturday, and still a good time considering the pit stop for Buddy, and a nice 10 mile run yes
Yellow, a good mix of running well done with the 3 tempo miles yesterday
Ollie, a fast time at parkrun considering the lack of speed work, I am sure there is more to come off, and a good undulating run the day after an 18 mile LR today
Cal, well done knocking 10 seconds off your parkrun time,
Tricia, A 19 mile run the week after a ultra is very impressive, you must recover fast, good luck with Arran, you have the miles in the legs, so a little tempo work will help get some more pace.
MG, I hope the relay race went well yesterday
Tek, another good run with the club,
HM, well done with the 2 mile race and the report,
SM, some good miles in the bank, enjoy the long run today
----------------------
An easy 8 miles yesterday decided to go up to Craig Dunain, I am trying to add some hills into my general running routes to help improve strength, which I know I am lacking when I start running at a faster pace.
almost 38 miles for the week, I'll need to start increasing the my weekend run.
Loch Eriboll Half Marathon, Day 1 of Cape Wrath Challenge
Ferry across Saturday afternoon and drove the 70 miles on a lovely evening along the North coast to Durness, stopping off at Ben Loyal Hotel in Tongue for a nice meal with views out over Ben Hope. 5 mile walk along Balnakeil beach to Fharaidh Head on Sunday morning and met up with old friends in the afternoon. Meet and Greet (+ registration) in evening meeting many more old friends. Monday morning dawned wet and misty although it had been forecast to be dry. Dithered about whether to take waterproof. Start was delayed by late arrival of one of minibuses to take us out to the start line. Course is single track road around Loch Eriboll then along coast back to Durness. The first couple of miles are downhill (but with a headwind today). We then turn round the head of the loch to have a flat section (with tail wind). After 5.5 miles the road becomes distinctly more undulating. The usual Scottish "loo with a view" before setting off. Opted to leave Montane jacket running in shorts, tshirt and long sleeved top. Now dry and stayed dry for the duration. 8:19, 8:59, 8:25 (downhill but into wind) 8:23, 8:14, 8:42 Order now largely sorted along other side of loch with gentle tailwind expecting Els to come up behind me. Managed to pass a couple of folk and kept one normally fast girl in sight. 8:45, 8:35 (undulations begin) 9:03, 8:50 9:21 spurred on up hairpin hill section by 2 others transiently catching me and giving me a proverbial kick
8:46, 9:29,(9:47) Realised a PB was definite possibility... Up the last long hill before turning corner into wind and more undulations, but still pulled in one guy in last mile. Last 0.1 seemed to take forever.
Crossed the line in 1:54:32, PB by 45s, course PB by 2 min and just ahead of Elspeth for the first time.
OH- I've always been intruiged by the cape wrath thing, but I'm really bad at consecutive day running unless it is at a snail's pace. Are you doing the full week?- well done beating Elspeth!
Stewart C- I think a few hills does a lot of good- trouble is that I've done so little flat stuff that I'm not used to a decent pace now. Will fix this over the next 6 weeks, as my next marathon is flat.
I felt very lacking in energy this morning on my tready recovery run, although my legs feel OK- probably just due to the rather optimistic early return to high mileage post - ultra..............it's OK, though, holiday next week.
OH well done on your PB and getting the win against Elspeth
Tek miles buolding up again nicely.
Stewart having done that race yesterday I think hills will make a difference to fitness levels if done regularly but will take a little longer to recover from.
Had a great day competing in the Hilly 100 team race yesterday, our team of 10 came 4th / 37 teams in a respectible time of 11 hr 1 min for our 100 miles. Personally went quite well covering my 9.4 m in 1:04:32 at 6:42 av. Happy with my time and run and glad that I did my bit for the team .
Have to say the last five miles were pretty painful and hard work but really satisfying to run and then pass the baton on to the next team mate.
Hills and undulations were everywhere so really gave the legs and lungs a massive workout.
Really enjoyed the team format running with a great group of guys including some seriously talented guys who worked for each other in water stops and navigating along the country route. After a long day a nice few beers were consumed.
I had a very lacklustre 4 miler on Sunday, which was supposed to be longer but I just wasn't feeling it. Unsurprising given that I'd run a balls-out parkrun the day before, and I don't usually run on consecutive days.
Yesterday was spin.
Today I woke up feeling tired, a bit headachey and suspiciously like I'm about to get a cold (you know, the slightly scratchy throat and general malaise) but I could see blue skies already and I really wanted to run. Tomorrow it's supposed to rain, so I didn't want to put it off only to have to traipse around in the drizzle.
Anyway, I didn't feel bad once I'd got out there. Two easy miles to warm up, then three at around HM pace before cooling down with another half mile on the way home. I was quite pleased that the last fast mile was my target HM pace (9:09). It didn't feel too fast, but there's a hell of a difference between running at that pace for one mile versus 13. We'll see how much of next month's Harry Hawkes 10 I can maintain it for.
Ran out of time for a long commute, but I did manage a MLR of 11m - explored a canal path then ran along the Embankment and through Hyde Park. A bit hot, but happy with the 8.33mm pace and sub75%maxHR.
Day 2 of Cape Wrath Challenge 4.8 mile "2 Lochs Race" With legs stiff from the previous day's half marathon/10k and minds befuddled from the previous evening's pub quiz, the Cape Wrath Challengers returned for a short off road race on the Tuesday. With the weather dry but cool and overcast, all runners set out together from the community hall. The initial part is along a flat private road but becoming rougher underfoot as it progressed. Once past the first loch, the route turns right and becomes more undulating along a tractor track. The way along by the second loch is along a grassy footpath. The climbing then starts in ernest over grassy tussocks and heather, with a last short sharp climb before heading back to the road to finish back at the community centre. Elspeth was having none of second fiddle today, passing me early and increasing her lead throughout the race. I just took it steady; this was not an A race. I crossed the line in just over 48 minutes - in the bottom third rather than the top half of yesterday. Lunch and more socialising. Ceilidh practice this evening.
Ollie: Hello Past Me, hope you're well. SC: Nice hilly 8 miles, and good weekly miles. Teknik: Nice jog and weekly mileage totted up for last week, good 11 miles today. OH: Great running the past couple of days, pub trivia needs improvement. Hope you're having a good time there. HM4: Cheers. Tricia: Nice recovery running, enjoy your holiday next week. MG1: Great going on the relay leg, and well done to your team too, good stuff. Cal: Nice spin session, and well done getting out running today, good going. NP: Thanks, steadily clocking up the mileage but just enjoying being out running so s'all good. Ollie: Past Ollie says that he is fine, thanks.

A nice morning run is what I would have said if I had gone out in the morning. A nice afternoon run is what I would have said if I had gone out in the afternoon. As it was, a nice run somewhere in the murky boundary of afternoon/evening was what it was, and so it is what I shall say, or type rather.
5 miles running followed by a slightly longer walk back seeing as it was good walking weather out there, not much else left to say.
SC: good luck with the hills - too flat near me so it's a drive away, a long run, or treadmill if I want hills
Tricia: impressive recovery
MG: great result and great teamwork!
Cal: well done - take it easy though if you're unsure - better an easy day than wiping yourself out for weeks
Tek: Nice commuting - better than the tube any day
OH: Cape Wrath sounds fun - great reports
Ollie: nice 5 miles, and yes it's good walking weather
-------------
Tough intervals again this evening. 1x2mile and 4x1mile, all at 10k pace. Hard work, but went well, 7:18, 7:18, 7:21, 7:30, 7:21, 7:20.
It was the murky twilight for me too Ollie: eye, ears, mouth and nose getting full of little bugs
Off to Copenhagen with work again tomorrow. The office is 10miles from the hotel, so I'm planning to build in some commute runs some time. Tomorrow may not be the day after today's session though
SC Nice 8 miles hope you pick some nice hills... gr8 weekly mileage
Tek Interesting MLR good mileage for the week.. temperature is a bit of a shock (haircut needed here!)
OH Great run thanks for including the name of the places, wonderful, It'd be gr8 to visit there again.. v well done on the 2 challenge.. hope reserve tanks kick in for Celidh

Ollie sounds like an enjoyable steady run
Trail run along the gritstone edges this evening 8miles easy... tapering for race next sunday (4miles tomorrow and 2 on thursday) then rest before the day. Nervous but can't wait
Tek, good totals for the week and a nice MLR to start this one, good HR Stats, very encouraging.
OH, congratulations, a PB on a course that doesn't normally yeild them, just goes to show the training has gone well, loved the report and well done beating Elspeth, 1 - 1 now though
Tricia, I am sure the speed will come, take care and make sure you recover well from your recent ultra
MG, awesome team performance, and a fast paced 9 mile run from you. congratulations
Cal, nice tempo run, I am sure come race day you'll manage the pace fine
Ollie ,a good 5 mile run and walk, nice to get out and enjoy the day
Yellow, good consistent pacing, looking good for your 10k race
MG7, Nice trail running, good luck with the race on Sunday
---------------------
6 miles on Monday with 3 cruise intervals, I couldn't hit the pace I was wanting to do, a mixture of heavy legs and finding it tough on the lungs, a very easy 5 mile run with JS yesterday evening, it was very refreshing running in the drizzle/light rain.
I look to do another hilly run after work and have another body pump class booked hopefully I'll not be as sore after.
Just a quick post , just woke up after sleeping off a night shift
Popped in to say a massive well done to OH ! I saw your FB post about your half marathon PB how you managed that with the hills and wind as you reported is beyond me ! Awesome running and I hope it hasn't caused a domestic ! Ha ha beating Elspeth for the first time '
Yellow52: Nice intervals yesterday, bugs not so much... MG7: Nice trail run, enjoy the taper. SC: Good going on the 6 and 5 miles over the past few days. OH: Good racing, well done to Els too.
OH well done on the second race yesterday and the 10.4mile race today sorry it's 2-1 against you now. Enjoyed the report and the photos on FB looks like a great week of running.

Well last night was the last of the club cross country races this was cancelled from March, it was a handicapped race and I started last only 40 minutes behind the first runner in the race. 8x 1mile laps so had to unlap my self a few times but worked my way past a few and came in 4th. Splits 6:16, 6:14, 6:20, 6:24, 6:28, 6:28, 6:33, 6:22
Today was 40x25m front crawl and 6 miles steady up the forest with a few strides in the last mile.

8:19, 8:59, 8:25 (downhill but into wind)
8:23, 8:14, 8:42 Order now largely sorted along other side of loch with gentle tailwind expecting Els to come up behind me. Managed to pass a couple of folk and kept one normally fast girl in sight.
8:45, 8:35 (undulations begin)
9:03, 8:50
9:21 spurred on up hairpin hill section by 2 others transiently catching me and giving me a proverbial kick
8:46, 9:29,(9:47)
Realised a PB was definite possibility... Up the last long hill before turning corner into wind and more undulations, but still pulled in one guy in last mile. Last 0.1 seemed to take forever.
Crossed the line in 1:54:32, PB by 45s, course PB by 2 min and just ahead of Elspeth for the first time.
Excellent run OH !! PB and beat Elspeth
Well done guys.
NP,
As much as I love 5k racing there is no way in this world a parkrun very Saturday is going to happen! I work every other Saturday
Tek,
I'm really surprised at that turn of speed myself.
OH,
That's an awesome result because Elspeth doesn't hang about.
Fantastic, OH! And well done MG.
Yellow nice running over the weekend don't worry about the number of miles for the year, your out running and thats what counts
Ollie thats a good nice run by the sound of it and 1000 for the year so far.
SC thats a good hilly 8 miles banked.
Teknik that's still big miles for the week without the commute. Well done on the miles per week.
OH Great report sir and well done on the PB
HM4 Well every other Saturday then.
Tricialitt go easy on the return.
MG1 well done on the race and great team placing 4th bet you enjoyed the beer.
Cal well done on the training glad you felt well once you started your run and i'm sure next month you will be fine in the race.
48 minutes for 4.8 XC sort of race today (Elspeth back in the lead )
Great relay results and spirit MG1
Tricia well done on the treadie recovery run
MG nice team result, and well done on the pace
Cal well done on the tempo run
OH good XC running, well done

Ran out of time for a long commute, but I did manage a MLR of 11m - explored a canal path then ran along the Embankment and through Hyde Park. A bit hot, but happy with the 8.33mm pace and sub75%maxHR.
Day 2 of Cape Wrath Challenge
4.8 mile "2 Lochs Race"
With legs stiff from the previous day's half marathon/10k and minds befuddled from the previous evening's pub quiz, the Cape Wrath Challengers returned for a short off road race on the Tuesday.
Evening all.

Hope you've all had a good day.

2-1
tough race today with cool strong wind
1:46 for 10.4 miles mixed undulating terrain
Popped in to say a massive well done to OH ! I saw your FB post about your half marathon PB how you managed that with the hills and wind as you reported is beyond me ! Awesome running and I hope it hasn't caused a domestic ! Ha ha beating Elspeth for the first time '
Back later to catch up properly

Well last night was the last of the club cross country races this was cancelled from March, it was a handicapped race and I started last only 40 minutes behind the first runner in the race. 8x 1mile laps so had to unlap my self a few times but worked my way past a few and came in 4th. Splits 6:16, 6:14, 6:20, 6:24, 6:28, 6:28, 6:33, 6:22
Today was 40x25m front crawl and 6 miles steady up the forest with a few strides in the last mile.
