    Good luck Nodster!

Hi Nodster. Just read your report about the Arun River Marathon yesterday. Sounds like the perfect way to run a marathon and the view from the top of that hill (and the cake) hopefully made up for the climb.

List Fairy could you add me to a couple more races please, Beachy Head Marathon on 29th October (I might try carrying some cake with me for that one) and Brighton HM on 26th February? Thanks

Happy Monday everyone! Only five to the next weekend... I had/have a family member visiting last night, and although I managed to ration the vino quite well (I think I may have been alone in this) I'm probably going to need a nap later today... I did manage to get in a little run with my lovely new garmin yesterday morning though, and it's just told me I need to move...

Beachy Head is on my bucket list baldstan, but I'm going to have to run up a lot of hills before I'm ready for that one. How were the weekend races Nodster and Christopher Field?

    Hi List Fairy

Please can I be added to the calendar in the following events.

    May 22nd - Clanfield Challenge 12K

    Jun 5th - Portsmouth D-Day 10K

Jun 18th - South Downs half marathon

    Oct 9th - Yorkshire marathon.

I have done very little since Paris and have signed up to "loads" of things to try & keep me motivated between training programmes, unfortunately seem to have picked hilly events & I'm really not used to hills any more image

Hi Nells- I had a really good weekend in Chester with the Mrs, shopping at Cheshire oaks on the Saturday and relaxing in the early evening by the river. Sunday was a nice day for running sun out but not too hot, achieved a Pb of 1:39:40 by over 2 minutes so the weekend could not have gone any better.

  • Eggyh73Eggyh73 ✭✭✭

    Christopher - Well done!

Christopher. Well done, mate. Cracking time

    Well done Christopher, nice PB.

Here's my report from the latest one :

    https://20marathons2016.wordpress.com/2016/05/15/no-7-arun-river-marathon-sussex/

Hope everyone is well. Not long until your Rockin' n' Rollin' Orbutt, AndyW, Christopher & Kirsten !

  • NodsterNodster ✭✭✭

Blimey Copenhagen has come up quickly for you Copenhagener's too !

  • Nodster - I think we're all dealing with it with that most useful of pre-marathon strategies - denial. Good work at the weekend. But you need to do some serious training on your cake eating. I know it's tough, but I have confidence you'll get there image
  • NodsterNodster ✭✭✭

I'm sure you'll all be fine RR .... thank you, I just need to find some good carrot cake & I'll be good image

  • Eggyh73Eggyh73 ✭✭✭

Well done Nodster! Another one ticked off.

Copenhagen this weekend. Time to find out if my actual form matches my training. On the plus side I've noticed there's a Vietnamese restaurant just around the corner from my apartment. I know where I'm heading on Friday night. image

Nells, a new Garmin, a birthday present perhaps? What do you think of it? I'm wondering about replacing my old motoactv and have been looking at the Garmins, especially the 225.

Good luck to everyone in Copenhagen. Weather looks good so far.

  • Andy-W-Andy-W- ✭✭✭
    Thanks for the encouragement Nodster.

I must admit I'm not feeling 'it' at the moment. I think Paris taken it out of my legs even though I've managed an 18 mile, 20 mile and HM race since.

Really hoping my taper will sort 'it' out ...not sure I'm on 3:26 form (last year Lpool) or even 3:32 form (Paris 2016) ... Don't know how you do it? ... I think I'll stick with 2 marathons (instead of 3) per year from next year.
  • NellsNells ✭✭✭

baldstan - more of a present to myself! I saw a good price for a 235 from a nice shop online, and decided I didn't want the double tan lines from Garmin + mio HRM again this summer and talked myself into it... I'm hoping that selling my old garmin + mio on ebay will bring the expenditure down a fair bit! I think of them like cars - you have to replace them regularly to retain the re-sale value image

I think there may be some on here that have recently splurged on a 225 too.

I absolutely love my 235 image

Just bought the 225 last week from Decathlon for ??155 and I'm lovin it lovin it lovin it......
  • Hi, I'm LenBhoy from Glasgow and this is my first post. My goal is to pass the finishing post in Paris next year, my 55th year, but the 1st I would have run a marathon.

Welcome to the forum LenBhoy image

  • Eggyh73Eggyh73 ✭✭✭

LenBhoy - Welcome to the thread. Nice to have another Glasgow lad to join the ranks. There are a few of us Paris regulars from north of the wall.

Plenty of time to get ready for next year. I'm sure you'll see that finish line. You've picked a great race as your first marathon.

  • OrbuttOrbutt ✭✭✭

Welcome LenBhoy. Paris was my first too and it is a great place to lose your cherry image

Hi LenBhoy. Welcome to the forum. I'm another 50-something who entered Paris as their first marathon, and enjoyed it so much I signed up straight away to do it again next year. This forum's a great place for advice (and support and encouragement when the training's not going so well). When you've got time would be good to hear a bit more about yourself and how you found yourself signing up for Paris...

Great to hear you're loving the 225 Jimbob. Might head over to Decathlon this weekend to try it out. That's such a good deal.

  • Thanks Christopher. I'll be doing this one as a training race so not flat out - but that won't make it any shorter! I wonder if Denmark is ready for me and my mini kilt?

Welcome LenBhoy - you'll love Paris. It's a great first marathon - I've run it 5 times now and spectated twice. It kind of draws you back.
  • The JimbobThe Jimbob ✭✭✭
Baldstan. I've survived for years with the 110 and it's served me well. I've paced many of my favorite races with it and I will still use it on the marathon. But this 225 for training is great, so much nerdy data .... I have the garmin app and strava app on my phone and it all happens in the background. I just have to press start and stop.
  • NellsNells ✭✭✭

Mmmmm, data... I might not be the speediest runner, but it doesn't stop me drooling over all the graphs.

Good luck Copenhagers! Enjoy the post run pastries...
