I have recently searched on Google to try and find a selection of the cheapest marathons in which one may participate in the UK. I'm only really concerned with running the distance and receiving a result (although a medal is nice).
Who would like to open the bidding?

The whole of the UK? Are travel and accommodation costs not an issue?
Cheapest for me is Brighton. I sleep in my own bed, walk to the start and bus home. £47 entry + £2.20 BFH.
The Poppyline Marathon 5th June is £9 or £13
Ooh, that's cheap PC.
Glen Moray Marathon is £14/£16, and I thought that was cheap. Bit of a commute from Sussex though.
How about an Ultra for £16...Preseli UltrabeasT (32 miles of stunning West Wales)
Big Floppy Hat?
Liverbird double. ??35 for two races.
You never watched bullseye Katterferjees?

For a road marathon I think Isle of Wight is a bargain at £15
Have done the FTC club marathon twice. Six quid and that included fully supported IM bike and IM swim. Best weekend out ever.
The LDWA do loads, normally under £15 for non-members and cheaper if you join the LDWA. The marathon-distance events are normally recognised by the 100 club if that's important.
Normally trail, self-navigation with lots of mud and hills. But great fun, a good way to see the countryside and if there's Checkpoints - more food than you can eat

Not even BFH then Millsy
Golden Fleece, South Cave, East Yorks - its a local scout group organised event in March - for walkers, but lots of runners do it - great cake along the way and a hot meal at the end. The entry isn't much at all ...
Valleys and Views put on by Waendal Walkers (you can walk or run), near Corby in April. £4 !!
Has to be Sandwell six towns...£7 on the day and (from this year) £2 to park

Have done this twice and it's ace!
clive .. is that the one where you go through the really long canal tunnel
Indeed it is. But the high spot has to be the tea and biscuits at Tipton leisure centre!
did that one in 2011 with my son and loved the tunnel
£23 for the Kent Coastal marathon - a proper road marathon, rather than a trail marathon or LDWA event.
