With our history of drinking the bar dry I'm wondering if someone should e-mail Cairns and ask them to start stocking up?
I wonder if their Pina Colada's are as good in Cairns? We may need to stick to the tiny beers instead (and order 2 at a time). At least they'll be cold.
Hmm, finances might well be tight - we'll have 2 at Uni that year , but hey, there's a long time to save, and Mr Frag does rack up tons of air miles through work ......
I've recently just opened a new savings account, in which lies the princely sum of ten whole pounds. This is now my designated Cairns 2020 account Lots of time to add to it, thank god!

That I can relate to... 1 more year to go of pouring money into the hands of student landlords and publicans!
lets be honest.... its all prep for an Ironman on my 100th birthday
flights for next may/jun are £935 each with Cathay Pacific which seems to be the only carrier to do LON to CNS
Other flights are available into Sydney cheaper (750/800 per person), maybe use that as a base and use internal flights to/from Cairns (circa 150 return)
Hotels / apartments in Cairns are averaging out at £60-70 per night
Factor in car hire, fuel, food, insurances, my "guestimate" would be £4000 for a couple for 2 weeks.
Works out you will need to stuff £20 quid a week into your mattress between now and 2020
Based on 16 people, thrown in October for no real reason, don't think the time of year will affect the cost too much, need to do a bit of saving bearing in mind this is one way...
"Long Range Jet aircraft optimally blend comfort, performance and economy for medium length to long range flights. Cruising at speeds over 450 knots and a non-stop range of over 5000 miles, these jets travel further, faster and with more comfort than any other private jet aircraft"

A quote from the elusive Banksy after a new painting appeared at a school in Bristol:
a letter saying "it's always easier to get forgiveness than permission".
A quite form Mallowpuff after asking asking about gong to Cairns
"It's better to ask for forgiveness than permission"
Have you ever seen Mallowpuff and Banksy together.. are they one and the same? Makes you think???
Puffsy!

....and 28 pirates quietly agree.....
very tempted, though we are visiting next year, and IM Cairns *is* during term time... may have to do loads of work grovellage to get time off.
(I have casually mentioned it to Mr Frag, who just rolled his eyes - so at least its not an immediate "no" )
SEREN!!!!! Not that feckin ear worm again!!
Rafi glad I wasn't the only one to spot the Banksy reference there .....has mallowpuff got a B&Q loyalty card??
errrr, with the usual caveat of the horse eating my money I think this would be an oarsum trip to save for
Panksy has spoken.
.....and in tonight's news...
Its a yes from the MC financial controller...

Iron fraggle - just choose your favourite. That one goes to Uni, the other gets a job and gives you the money to go. Thank me later.
Ugh, swimming in Cairns. No thank you.
This years's race is this weekend by the way. But I'm sure you knew that.
So anyone got a 4 year training plan (and savings plan!)
Just out of interest has anyone tried to put a ballpark figure on how much we expect this to cost?
Ummmmm

If we could organise ourselves (yes, I know ) could we do a cheaper group booking for flights etc ? ( do such things even exist?)

Bargain.
Thats one way?
