Hi all, sorry to hear you've been on the bench BM, I can feel for you, my hip is still niggly, I'm off to get it seen to - and keep thinking hip replacement !! but I hope not.
I've got a Norton? belt with two small water bottles and a nice pouch, it sits well with my waist/hip and I use elastic bands, hair sort, on each side and wrap them around gels, they are quite easy to pull off whilst running, and you can have a lot hanging on both sides, with me, they don't seem to jump about either.

Nells - I think the quality of the field might be a tad better this time around, so I think I'll be back in my usual midfield position.
RR - Those sound like some good places to visit for a half.
I was looking at the Lyon half the other day. Only just come back from there (so really should know how to spell it), but didn't get to see much so thinking of going back soon as it's such a lovely city. Have a clash for that date though unfortunately. Always good to have an excuse to travel and see the world!

been a while since I've been here but am now halfway through my York training and really enjoying - far less obsessed with times and paces than I was for Paris & I think this is making me enjoy it far more.
List Fairy / Nells - can you add me to Portsmouth Coastal Marathon on 18 Dec, have been toying with this for a while and finally signed up.
Thanks Nodster - hopefully won't need much training as its quite close to York
Do you know how much of it is road & how much shingle? I've looked at the map of the route and some of the sections could be either/or & I really don't want to train on shingle unless I have to!
Mostly well made trails, some pavement and a bit of soggy muddy beach that likes swallowing trainers ??? only a little bit though

On that subject, I'm in the market for a fastish marathon in November or December (I'd like to get my Comrades qualifier in before the end of the year). Any suggestions for a low-fuss one within striking distance of South East England? Ideally not the kind where you run round and round in laps.

The second 3-week Training cycle done with a Long run along the Lake Zurich, Switzerland. Nice stuff, good road runner´s territory.
This week I have on Sunday the Erzberg mountain race. My coach wants me to run just three sessions
- 1:45 moderate plus 0:15 fast
- 1:00 fast
- Erzberg Race 12.5k, 2370ft positive elevation difference
That´s it, just run.
Mountain race! Good luck with that one.

Nodster.....speaking of Comrades, a very, very good source tells me that MdS is the ideal last bit of training for Comrades.... Just sayin'
I know I was looking at 2018 with Two Oceans but I'm wondering whether next year might be a better fit
This may be a completely daft question, but are doing Comrades next year ?
I also have some people whispering in my ear about Comrades and Two Oceans. What have you started Dannirr?

I'll admit I'm tempted by Two Oceans. I don't have any interest in doing anything like Comrades though.
Here is the plan:
Two Oceans is a 2018 plan, as it conflicts with MdS next year. There are several BCRC people going, and as its going to be such a fun trip, I'd suggest it better to wait until 2018 for Two Oceans! We are going to add a Safari to that trip too.
Comrades - yes, I'm going in 2017, assuming I actually survive MdS! It's an Up run. Nodster and LloydR - it'll be good as your first one.
And then Nodster and LloydR, you do Comrades and Two Oceans in 2018 - that way you get your Comrades back to back medal.
Need me to keep you posted on Comrades entries for 2017?
