His Facebook page is funny....so many people still supporting him on his amazing journey....telling him to ignore the haters ....
Maybe they are the same people that think immigration will go down and the NHS will be fully funded now we are leaving the EU...and that south gate will be the man to lead England to world cup glory
...Cue a level of cognitive dissonance matched only by Brexiters believing the NHS will benefit, Creationists, climate change deniers and anti-vaxxers.
There does seem to be a lot of blind faith from the supporters. I wonder how much they actually know about running.
somehow they seem to believe that because he's doing it in the name of charity it doesn't matter if he actually completes the challenge or not. Same for Mark Vaz.
None of them seem to question whether those people, who are found to be lying, are telling the truth about what actually goes to the charity or whether the past achievements they claim are genuine.
Its never queried how these people quit their day jobs and can afford to live (and travel to America for a month +). Even if they aren't skimming the charity money, someone is paying for it, be it a sponsor or friends & family etc.
I'd quite like to have a month off and drive across America in an RV. I'd happily throw a bit of running in here and there too!
I looked at his VLM splits and they are crazy, it's hard to believe someone would really do that. Someone on lets run said he was running with Paula's train at the start but he clearly ran out of steam.
He couldn't have done - he was on the red start, she was on blue. They don't merge until after the 5k mark, by which time he was behind her and already slowing. I suspect he'd been in bits a long time before Millsy saw him.
For an ultra runner he got his pacing very, very wrong at VLM. A 5k PB in the first 5k of a marathon is mental. Surely if he genuinely was doing regular daily marathons, he would have known just how bad that last 10k of a marathon can be. To set off at that pace is insane.
There was a "dominant" poster on this site who insisted that she ran her half marathons this way, nigh on 5k pb pace...for 5k, and then back to HM pace.
Said it enabled her to understand who her female competition was.
Seemed an absolutely stupid strategy to...well, everyone.

Yeah that always gets me when they do the features in RW about so and so solo running across Siberia and how mega it is. I'd love to and I'd imagine a large swathe of posters here could do it too. Sadly we have jobs/ partners/familys to consider... Dont get me started on the "rave runs" - oh look the Atatcama desert at dusk, I'll just pop along that way as I run home today....
The report of the investigation by Ross Tucker at Science of Sport is due to be published at 9am Sydney time which should be 11pm tonight. See the Tucker and SKINS sponsor websites. The press have had it for a couple of days under embargo as the owner of SKINS is flying back to Australia. There was a leaked page extract showing some suspicious cadence data from the running watch:
RY's sponsor SKINS have accepted the conclusions of the report and terminated their relationship:
"The conclusion reached by Roger and Ross is one I accept.
However, it’s also the case that Rob continues to vigorously defend himself. He maintained to Roger and Ross that he ran every step of the way, but he made mistakes with the collection and handling of data.
Nonetheless, we have terminated our relationship with Rob Young.

Can't believe Young is still denying he cheated. What an idiot.
Thanks for the link Joe, made interesting reading! And told us what we already knew.

It's pretty scathing when they say that cadences on huge amounts of the runs were impossible for a human, but very much in keeping with a vehicle
Am still chuckling at the 4:30 or so for a 34mile nighttime run across the desert.
And the witnesses who didn't see him, but just saw a vehicle travelling slowly.
You couldn't make it up...
well...
