Yes I know it's a little keen, what with this years still packing away the expo, but I thought I'd take advantage of Mrs Booo's post Maastricht holiday glow (and the seeming demise of 'Golden Bolton'), and get next years 50th birthday expedition booked in early.
So then, who's up for a little jaunt in the August French sunshine?
Comments
I intend booking when I get paid
Also for those interested ... The half is on the Saturday
Can you do both?
I'm sure you could mate
Finally got it entered
I am in for the 70.3 and staying on Sunday to support
Excellent stuff, need someone to have the beer ready for when I finally lumber in !
I'm very interested in IM Vichy. Is it a good event? What are the positives and negatives about the race?
RTN
I did it in 2015 ... and going back next year
Its a stunning place, well organised race, the road surface are great, the bike is not hilly (rolling but not hilly) The run course is mainly along the river banks with plenty of aid stations
It can get hot
Is there a lot of support along the route?
yes loads .. especially on the run
the bike goes through a few village, there were plenty supporting there. other parts of the bike are like segments of the TDF riding through vast sunflower fields
Wow. Think I'm sold. Will get this booked and looking forward to it. Thanks for the info WildWill.
I thought the run was well supported, great atmosphere.
Any recommendations for accommodation? Not camping. Will drive down on Friday and travel back on Tuesday probably so 4 nights somewhere close by.
Plenty of hotels in the town center (just across river from start/fin)
I'd book soon though as the accommodation sells out quicker than the race
There is a Mercure and an IBIS
We're booked in to the Ibis Styles, which apparently opens in Jan (so fingers crossed it does actually open) and I believe that's pretty central and not too far from transition.
On a slight related tangent ... did I hear somewhere that there is a ferry that crosses the riverlake ?
Will, I was thinking more for my 'support crew' to get back and forth to hotel for 'recovery' purposes
First long(ish) run in months at the weekend ... 12 miles in the blistering hot sun, so I'm counting that as acclimatisation training too, it nearly killed me, so more work to be done me thinks .. but still a while to go yet.
It's going steady away for me.
I've managed to keep the consistency
- long bike - managed to get my 1st ride over 100k in last week
- Long run - almost up to 10mile
- Swim - did my first swim to include a solid mile - took me 32:15 .. so-so
if you are following a 20 wk plan ... it should have started now
