  • Still debating if i should sign up and beat my time from last year. Struggling to work out if ill have time to train with baby being born in March

  • BristolSparks - get a baby jogger and you can do child care tun and run simple. Go for it you know you want to, unfinished business out there

  • Very unfinished business. Happy to finish but disappointed by time.

    Where is my credit card

  • seriously, while its a nice idea, and of course you're big enough to make your own decision, i'd advise against it....

A baby will knock your routines and spare time out of the window entirely, and Mrs BristolSparks will need all the spare time you've got to help her (assuming she's the one staying at home to start with - which might not be the case in these more enlightened times!)

lets be honest.... its all prep for an Ironman on my 100th birthday
  • I fully understand MC. I doubt i will do it but just niggling away at the back of my mind. Might focus on shorter distance and building back up to fitness ready to smash 2018

  • good plan.... squeeze in a sprint or two, and then you can train around the babies demands on your time rather than be pressured to fit in a pretty intense programme to meet the Outlaw dates... and then you can carry all that retained fitness through to 2018 when you'll have a routine nailed down, a baby that is sleeping through and away from home etc, and one that, as Redstripe suggests, you can involve a little with running buggies etc! (and other little things that will become apparent, like the availability of babysitters for 18mth olds, even if they are grandparents, is a lot simpler than a 3 month old, that mum may not want to leave, even for a weekend, etc etc..)

lets be honest.... its all prep for an Ironman on my 100th birthday
  • Bristol Sparks - why not see if there is an option to be part of a relay team at Outlaw then you can be part of it but without  the mass of training hours ?

  • Or race with the baby? Great bonding opportunity.

  • which leg would you advise the baby to do?

I did the half last year after becoming a dad the previous august, I think it was easier training last year than this because now when I am leaving the house I have a small boy asking me to play.

  • I'm in, had to withdraw from Lanza so as I'd be in Nottingham to support Mrs BP thought it wold be better to spend the day doing the race rather than standing around clapping and shouting 'Go Pirate'image

I'd probably recommend the run, purely because I tend to end up crawling anyway.

  • Never mind this racing nonsense, according to the title of this thread there's a section of the list missing.  And since the feed station has a thread all of its own, that only leaves one thing.

    I will if you will . . .

  • Looks like healthy numbers. Planning on coming over and helping out on the aid station if that is OK, and it's 2 weeks after Roth so any last minute drop outs for the relay, more than happy to help out

  • Noticed that you have to pay to park at HPP this year, so anyone not camping or with people coming up on the day to watch, bring some spare change

Figured I'd best add myself, now I'm nearly halfway into the training?

Just updating as Running Postie is taking my run spot.  I shall be there to cheer you all on though :)

  • Anyone know where my bike is..I had it at the long course weekend last year....This might be a long day
  • There's one more team to add to that with FF's better half, my daughter and guest pirate..... can't put them on the list until they've calmed down over the team name FF registered them with..... :#

HUGE pirate turnout this year!  :)
lets be honest.... its all prep for an Ironman on my 100th birthday
  • Hope and Garr also have teams entered, not sure if they'll be in yellow - loads of pirates!
  • MC that would Team Moan, Bitch and Wine.....::
  • Must be years since I've been on here!

Correct, I have a team entered.  My old school friends (Lofty, Garr, Dooley) from Campion Secondary school.  We've aptly named ourselves the 'Camp Iron Boys'.

Hope's team (Arctic Lady, Hope, Kittenkat) has pulled out.

So I win the Garwood bike-off by default I believe!

I really do need to sort accomodation out - where is everyone staying?
  • Daylight, the only way to do the Outlaw is camping at the site opposite HPP.
  • DaylightRDaylightR ✭✭✭
Being lazy - I've checked OSB webpage and no obvious link to accomodation/camping - do you have a link / phone number to hand?
I'll have a mooch on Google in the meantime.
  • camping is on site, next to transition, and can't be boooked in advance other tyan for pitches with electricity, which will be long gone by now... in the campsite there is enough room for the entire entry list two times over.... we'll have a massive pirate area... just listen for the noise when you get there!
lets be honest.... its all prep for an Ironman on my 100th birthday
  • Is it time for my map again .... ?????
