All packed and ready to go. Will see a few of you in Dubai if no one flying from Heathrow. Hubby and I both got our patches sewn onto rucksacks (He's not actually running it, so hope thats ok!!) Will be wearing pirate top at the Parkrun but will hopefully catch up with a few more of you before then.
Good luck all, I'm flying out tomorrow, hopefully the doc will give me some anti biotics tomorrow morning as I stood on a nail on Monday and it's now infected, but on the plus side my knee is feeling much better, Lol!
Ironically it's OK while I'm moving around but when I drive and then get out of the car or first thing in the morning it's quite painfull. I'll try a run in the morning before the doc opens up for business, see if I can make it swell up.
Becca, thanks for the hint of adding some snacks in the bag for after the run - great thinking. Also love marty's suggestion of wet wipes.
Lowrez, haha the colorful item on the right of my picture is the bar menu at the airport! I've had so many great comments about the patches. Thanks they're ace! Great job on stealing 5th spot on the charity list
Great bag RR
I had an incredible day yesterday swimming with the sharks. As I was the only one on the tour my guide did an extra drive with a personalised comrades route tour. In the evening saw a mantra Ray and whale shark.

Agh that sounds nasty, hopefully enough time for it to mend a bit before Sunday.
Does anyone know how to get your progress on the route posted to facebook on Sun, last time I remember posts automatically appearing as you passed the various timing mats. Few people have asked how they can track me online and that would seem like the easiest way but for the life of me can't remember how it was set up. Will admit I don't really use facebook too much apart from our local parkrun page.
For those staying at Bellaire, there was talk of dinner after 8, once Terry had finished an airport run. I'm still keen on that and don't mind eating later to give people time to check in etc
Superb photos Mr.Z, but where are the underwater tapirs?
jk - I recall the facebook doohickey arrives by e-mail, very late in the day, I leave today and last year the last thing I hurriedly did was facebook it up from the e-mail, and it didn't do anything for me on the day I wonder if with their wonderful new app they are not doing it this year? The website will also have a tracker on it as a last resort; searches by number or surname will be possible and the timing mat clicks get posted there.
Ah ok that must have been it, maybe same will happen this year. Otherwise I'll just tell people look at the site.
Heading for the airport at lunchtime, mix of excitement & dread Looks like I might catch up with Mac3 at the parkrun in Umhlanga on Sat morning.
I'll be wearing my purple parkrun volunteer t-shirt with an Irish flag at the parkrun. Starting in #B at Comrades where I'll have a blue t-shirt again with an Irish flag and most likely will be in the international tent with a MarathonTalk 26.2 t-shirt & a beer when/if I finish (no flags!). If you see me please say hello.
Comrades App looks good Lowrez - a few minutes on the train I managed to save several folks here as favourites. I hope it works well on the day.
For anyone still reading this, even if you have your pre-race routine down to a fine art I'd recommend fixing your championship to your race shoes as soon as you've finished registering at the Expo. It's such a great event, don't risk ruining the day and the trip over something completely avoidable....
Lovely run with the international runners and ambassadors. Everyone is eager to give advice and find out about you. Bruce Fordyce is tiny!
Was lovely seeing Mr and Mrs Seren. The pirate kit is great for spotting people! Seren may now have a back injury after last seen lugging an enormous back back full of beer through the Hilton!

At parkrun I'll be a pirate vest
And I'll post a picture of my running top for Sunday
By all accounts the world Cup did well for the sea front
