Maybe a silly question, but.......

I was always under the impression that when running you were propelled forward mainly by the hamstrings, however my quads have become fatigued before anything else and make my legs feel heavy.

Does anybody have any ideas on why this might be happening and how to remedy it?

Thanks very much!

Your quads work eccentrically to stop your knee buckling when you land then contribute to the extension force that pushes your centre of mass upwards, so they do work hard when running. Overstriding (foot landing too far in front) may be creating a braking force that is slowing you down and putting extra load on your quads so trying to have your foot land under your body might help. Other than that it's probably just a matter of gradually building strength. Good luck.
