Friday 8th September 2017 You think we look pretty good together

Morning! Early start as I can't sleep!

Lyrics: You think we look pretty good together

What: anti-gravitational treadmill. May also go to the fitness suite.

Why: the nearest substitute there is for "proper" running

Back later...hopefully after a little more sleep!

Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

  • Morning.

Yesterday's lyrics - Don't Dream It's Over by Crowded House.

Hope you got some more sleep Alehouse.

That's annoying chicksta - can you get another appointment soon?

    Careful with that calf RFJ.

    You ok OH?

    What:           short and easy
Why:            staying the right side of the line (I hope)
    Last hard:    seeing the line
    Last rest:      15/7

    Lyrics - yes.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Morning
LmH - I'm elevated to senior team owing to late withdrawals so just 3 of us (combined age of around 150!). Haven't drawn legs yet, but I usually like to go first.
The South of England ones are in two weeks (Crystal Palace).

    What - easy lunchtime miles
    Why - ticking over
last rest - did a mile in 10 minutes last night, before that Saturday
    last hard - Tuesday

  • Morning

LMH: I hope you know where the line is:-)

    RFJ: how is the calf?

Chick: I hope it can be rescheduled?

    What: 4 miles
    Why: Lake V
Last hard: seeing how slow I am compared to last year
    Lyrics: Yes
    Last rest 16/08
    ALF: Always a little further
    Miles makes smiles.
    Progression
  • Morning again!

4 miles/30 mins on the a-g treadmill with 10 mins at 85% bodyweight, 10 at 90, 5 at 92, plus short warm up and down. Will have to see what the Achilles is like tomorrow.

Managed to get back to sleep, but not for anywhere near long enough.
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.
  • appointment rescheduled for next week :)

Talking of appointments: Any news for a new op date, SC?

How do those anti G treadmills work, ale? I can't really figure it out. Are you strapped into something so your bodyweight is less?

Poppy: but you're running. Speed plays only a very minor role :)

What: 40mins of gym work and 30 mins in the pool
    Why: recovery
Last hard: that rubberband makes things bloody hard
    Last rest: 5/8
    Lyrics: think so

  • Lyrica Yes; Op nope...but before Christmas

Chick: I think this is the machine I am running on...

The one I am using cost around £60k! Another link:

Whilst it is a good substitute for running, I find it difficult to equate the times that I am running with real life times. Finding 7 minute miles to be easy, but wouldn't in real life. And it is not very exciting, and nor is the gym work! Am thinking of using the a-g treadmill for my speedwork when I am fully recovered: at least it will be dry and warm!

  • 2.9 mile walk
why: felt right thing to do
    last hard: patience
    lyrics: a rare yes
  • Good news chicksta.

Hope it's sooner rather than later SC.

I'm sure you'll still have a great time at Lake V Poppy.

Will you still have access to the anti-g treadie then Alehouse? I hope there's no reaction to the increased body weight.

Hope you have a good run at the relays Dustin and get leg one if that's your favourite.

Do you think you overdid it a bit earlier in your recovery OH? You don't sound as upbeat as you did.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • I can pay to use the A-G treadie on a pay as you go basis, LMH. Will report back re the Achilles tomorrow! Definitely still not quite right but that is more of a reaction to the leg presses and eccentric loading I suspect than to the a-g.

Looks like a sensible head there, OH!

Off to the fitness suite shortly!

  • Remain upbeat, just pacing myself.

    Evening

What: physio, 11km hilly run, sleep propelling me into another dimension
Why: appointment, getting my mojo back, apparently I was tired
Last hard: returning to this dimension
    Lyrics: nope

Physio was extremely painful this morning. She kept asking if I was OK!  However, she did say legs didn't feel too bad considering my currently running

Decided that I should head out for something slow. Ended up with 11hilly km. Felt OK though couldn't go faster than 6:30/km

Sat down with cup of tea after lunch.  Next thing I knew I was trying to open my eyes.  Finally managed and looked at clock. 17:30.  Oops. Must have needed that.

    Ale that treadmill sounds interesting

Chick are you heading to Hanover on Sunday?

Wp how are you feeling about Sunday?

Well done for being sensibly oh.

Have a lovely Friday evening all.

  • Going to parkwobble tomorrow with tailrunner......Hmmm

  • Why the Hmmmm, SC?! Op related or Achilles?

    Hi all,

just back from a busy day, Andover Parkrun with Jnr then off to the cottage for football.

Ran the first mile conservatively so I thought with Jnr and clock a 6:40 oops.. followed by a 6:46 and a 6:42 plus the last bit for a unexpected 20:39, calf held up well which was good. And was good to catch up with all our old friends from Andover Parkrun. Good warm up and cool down too.

Footy was good too, ref wasn't :-) but we got a 1-1 draw against the leaders.

    Take care all
