Monday 29th January 2018 - Dark in the city night is a wire

Morning.

Lyrics - Dark in the city night is a wire

Legs feel fine after yesterday's run but I'm starving this morning! I expect a long run was a bit of a shock to the old body - first one I've managed this year. Wet and windy here this morning, it's going to be one of those where I'd probably have quite liked the excuse to play in the gym but no longer have it:-)

What:             short and easy
Why:              weather and work
Last hard:      convincing myself I could run long yesterday
Last rest:       24/1
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

  • Morning!

    Lyrics: no

    Yesterday's were "Poison Arrow", ABC.

    What: unlikely

Why: chest infection and back problems. Will try to get GP appointment and possibly referral to consultant re back, although I am seeing osteopath later anyway. Getting unfitter and fatter by the day!

A run of 20:18 minutes would be most welcome, Pammie!

How long was yesterday's run, LMH? I'm guessing 2 hrs 45 to 3 hrs! Glad the legs feel fine!
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

    Morning
Hope you get to see the quack Ale
LmH - well done on the long run, please don't overdo things though...
    what - easy lunchtime
    why - legs hammered
    last rest - 15/12
    last hard - yesterday

lyric - ah yes, more 80s, and very apt following your comment LmH! (clue, clue)

  • Morning again!

And you take it easy too, Dustin!

I guessed there was a clue to the lyrics...but it didn't help!

GP appointment booked for 10:45...and then osteo at 11.30. A bit of a rush between the two and it will be the one day when the latter is on time, no doubt!

    Morning all

Weekend saw me disappointed with a 17.43 parkrun, it's over 81% wava and yet I expect more from myself, real concern that my lack of specifics and age are catching up as I felt better than I ran.
Did 4hrs on the bike on Sunday so a solid weekend of training

What: hour run d&d hour ride later
    Why: Easy Monday
    Last hard: Saturday
    Last rest: Friday 12th Jan
Lyrics: For a second there was a flicker but NO

LMH - Can I state my surprise that you are running anywhere far when you have been at almost dead stop

  • Hope the long run wasn't as long as I think and more importantly that it didn't set you back, LMH.

81% wava is not to be sniffed at, Gobi.

Hope you get answers and/or pills to make you better, ale.

What: 8 mile progression run on the treadmill
Why: wet, wild and windy outside (too much for my liking)
Last hard: I find treadmill runs always hard coz they're boring
    Last rest: 17/12
    Lyrics: yes

    Afternoon

    What: running club
    Why: it's Monday
Last hard: travelling at the weekend.  Although great fun, the 360 mile round trip to Kent is rather tiring!
    Lyrics: nope

Managed 5km on Saturday and 1 mile yesterday but just couldn't get online to post.

Ale hope you get better soon.
LMH sounds like you're finally on the mend.
    Pammie keep at it!

    Have a lovely day all.

Hope they managed to fix you between them Alehouse - or at least that you're feeling better.

Gobi - I've usually been able to go out and run easy miles, I seem to retain my endurance. Wouldn't fancy my chances of running fast though! I'm fortunate, I enjoy running for running's sake - don't need times, performances etc for that. Of course I like to PB but it's not the sole aim or enjoyment.

No adverse reaction to yesterday's run at all fortunately.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
