Hi guys. After 24 years of smoking finally managed to be a non smoker for 6 weeks now. Feel massively better and in a moment of madness a work colleague and myself randomly signed up for an inflatable assault course 5k challenge. (Havent ran since school and was rubbish then) Bought myself a descent pair of asics and managed 2 runs this week of 2.9 miles in 29 mins and 28 mins. Tonight i managed a full mile without walking. Proper chuffed with myself 😁
What's the next step...should I start going for distance rather than speed and times or should I just keep going for the 5k distance as I am now??
Thanks in advance for any comments 👍🏃♂️

I'd slow your running down and go for running further non stop, the speed will come later.
Managed 3.2 miles without stopping yesterday, a massive personal achievement.
That's what I like about this sport your challenging yourself all the time. Tried to slow it down a little bit aswell.
Thanks for the advice. ?
However cross country is a whole different ball game to pounding the pavements isn't it.
