Friday 25th May 2018 - I'm gonna wear what I will and spend some

Morning.

Lyrics - I'm gonna wear what I will and spend some

Cold, wet and windy start to the day here - a 'high' of 15C forecast - back to 22C tomorrow which is a bit more like it. At least the forecast for the weekend isn't too bad.

Hope the weather is kind to you OH.

I guess they'd need to PAT test them etc chicksta which would cause a lot of work if everyone did it. How much longer are you there for? How are your knees feeling now?

What:          I may check out the new treadies at the gym and have a little swim
Why:           not liking the weather and don't have any work
Last hard:   working out what to cook for everyone over the weekend
Last rest:    4/5

Yesterday's lyrics - Life Is For Living - Coldplay.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

    Morning!

    Lyrics: no

    What: unsure

    Why: weather/marking/back consultant
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

    Lyrics, nope!

Good morning to all from a sunny ☀️ Central Scotland.  It’s going to be hot this weekend.

I am done with socialising again, can’t cope with more than a few nights.  Very proud of our students though, the band and dancers were fabulous at Edinburgh Castle on Wednesday and our Drum Major led out the massed pipes and drums on that night and last night at Holyrood Palace.  It’s wonderful leading a school where the students get such amazing opportunities.

Running has been short and quick this week.  Wednesday was 6 miles at 6:46 pace and then last night was just 5 miles with 3 segment attacks on Strava.  Love that kind of session.

On call at work this weekend until Sunday lunch so will just have another short and easy run tonight before racing on Sunday afternoon in the local 7.5miler.

Hope everyone has a good day!

    Morning

Sorry to hear about your weather LMH Hope the gym goes well at least you will stay dry:-)

    What: 7.67 miles
Why Because I can/all legs wanted to do
Last hard: tired legs/quads screaming at me
    Lyrics: Not sure

Another 5am run I love it  but need to stretch my quads as they are telling me they need work on them.
    ALF: Always a little further
    Miles makes smiles.
    Progression
  • Hope it's good news from the consultant Alehouse.

It must be so nice to enjoy your job as much as you obviously do Donaldo. I hope it isn't too hot for your afternoon race.

I won't if I go for a swim Poppy  :) It is horrible out there this morning, very heavy rain.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

Sounds like a great evening Don.
WP - well done on the early miles - I do like being out that time of day (regrettably it's usually going to work!)
I knew there was a reason I crossed off Yeovil: At Center Parcs for my brothers (belated) 50th celebrations. My coach ran it last year and suggested it as a decent course, so perhaps next year.

    What - steady lunchtime
    Why - mileage
    last rest - 12/05
    last hard - Tuesday
    lyric - don't think so

Grey and muggy again, plenty of rain last night but seems to have cleared this morning.

    Morning again!

Very frustrating one here as the marker website is down so just twiddling my thumbs until it is working. Pouring here so can't potter in the garden which would be about as far as I could go as I need to be near to the phone.

LMH: re consultant, meeting him to discuss a possible long term solution to the 25% missing part of T8 vertebra, etc.
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.
  • Early lunch in Strathpeffer on route to Skye

    Weather lovely

    Afternoon

    OH: Enjoy the kayaking, jealous
AH: I hope the consultant and you find the solution your after.
LMH: made the decision to go back to try so I have to swim... badly. I think an Olympic trial will be enough for this year though.

What: TT the bike around the Immortal Triathlon bike course,
Why: Just for fun and of course to see if I could go quicker than last week
Last Hard: Climbing the hill out of Bruton as fast as possible
    Last Rest: 09/05

    Lyrics: Not a diddly squat.

Will give Yeovil park run a go tomorrow morning, my favourite park run, a totally X country course.
  • Hope you didn't have to wait too long for the website to be sorted Alehouse.

Do you know the Yeovil marathon route DD? If so - anything to note?

I think we can forgive you then Dustin  :)

    Safe journey OH.

My legs feel better after yesterdays long run than they have in ages, it seems they really do prefer to be used. New treadies at the gym are ace, they had a landscape that you were running through on the screen and it was so nice I didn't want to stop as I wanted to see where it would take me next! Limited myself to six progressive miles then did 30 lengths in the pool which also felt surprisingly good. Now baking chocolate amaretti cake in readiness for our weekend guest.

Over four hours for the website to be sorted, LMH, and the most frustrating thing was I had to wait by the phone.
Had to do some shopping for son's birthday tomorrow and managed a short run after that and between showers.
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

    Evening chaps,

LMH: Those treadmills sound great, adding a game element and narrative really helps motivation, (curiosity being the biggest human motivator). Then 30 lengths in pool, I can hear Henry Kelly’s theme tune “going… going… going for gold”

Ale: Internet! On one hand it gives and the other it takes. Great that you got out for a run and some news on consultant possibilities.

DD: A good blast on the bike, did you manage it quicker?

Dustin: Sneaky lunchtime one, hang on I can hear another theme tune… yes… it’s Roy Castle “Dedication… whoaho dedication…” Are your lunchtime (work) runs in London? If so which part do you get round? Just curious to know if it is somewhere I used live.

Welsh: 5AM Blimey, snakes alive, I think I can hear Roy Castle again… sorry to hear your legs arguing with your will this morning, good going miles.

Don: Judging by your recent miles, the shorter than normal is well deserved, fantastic pace though, I only wish I could get it down to that. I can only manage it when in an event for not too long outs though, but normal day to day running it just seems impossible for me.

OH: Skye what a lovely prospect, I know somebody that has upped sticks and taken early retirement to Skye. Somewhere on my visit list.

Apart from Ale’s computer what an inspirational day reading today’s activity, really uplifting. Humans Vs Computers is 1-Nil to humans.

Was really rough yesterday did 6.25 in the end, but it was really difficult. Today was going to be a gym day, still felt a bit rubbish but better, didn’t fancy lifting weights, perfect weather for me for running, cold and drizzly, so went and did an 8 with much more vigour than yesterday.

What: 8 via coastal road between North and South Bays.

Why: Supposed to be gym day, but didn’t fancy lifting weights today

Lyrics: No! (but got 27 points again yesterday on Popmaster, just cant get past the 30 mark though)

  • That must have been very frustrating Alehouse - four hours of your life you'll never get back!

I'm glad you're feeling bouncier today Benjy. It's good to be flexible and go with what feels right, it's supposed to be fun after all.
