how long do trail shoes last

Internet wisdom suggests that 'running' shoes should be replaced after around 500 miles. Would this figure be the same for trail shoes? They may get more damage from roots, rocks and the like, but they wont be getting the same level of pounding that you get from running on tarmac/concrete. Road shoes are divided into three levels of pronation, while trail shoes generally are not. This suggests that the shoe (and your feet) get less of a hammering off road and should last longer?

    Lol sorry no idea.  Yeah there is less cushioning to get flattened but also the grip which is important for trail shoes will wear out quicker maybe?

    For me its depended on the upper rather than the tread or cushioning - have some Mizuno Wave Harriers that have lasted 6 years plus and some true battering and still my go to shoe for the muddy stuff. Saucony Peregrines have last best part of 2 years and well over 750 miles of trails but uppers just started to split. Had Inov8's but uppers have split between 100 and 200 miles.
