Friday 7th September 2018 - I wrote you a letter

Morning.

Lyrics - I wrote you a letter

Nice to look at but I don't think I'd want to swim in it OH!

Glad you had a nice outing Poppy, shame about your lunch.

HMP is currently 6.24 chicksta but I can't hit that in training even for one mile.

What:              short and easy
Why:               legs feel very 'post physio'
Last hard:       not crying when she worked on my back and piriformis
Last rest:        19/8
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

  • Morning!

    Lyrics: no

Yesterday's lyrics were Electric Light Orchestra with Don't Bring Me Down. Originally followed by the made up word Groos; usually sung these days with the word Bruce instead.

    What: short run or rest

    Why: looking after my legs

Forecast is good for today...which is probably why it is currently pouring!
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.
  • Morning

LMH:Well done on pulling big girl pants up and not crying at physio session;-)

What: Going for a little hobble
Why: Because foot has no re action to yesterday-yay
    Last hard: Foot
    Lyrics nope

Cold here first thing but slowly warms up if I was out running would need a LS top on:-)
    ALF: Always a little further
    Miles makes smiles.
    Progression
  • There was a definite nip in the air when I walked Grace and I was pleased that I'd decided to wait for it to warm up a little before heading out for my little run as we've just had a shower go through. Feels very wintry, I'm hoping Sunday is warmer!

    Enjoy your walk Poppy.

Hope he weather clears up Alehouse - maybe a walk if a run isn't a good idea?
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

What run done down a steep hill then back up again
Why trying to get it done before we beach
    Last hard that
    Last rest 31/12/16
    Have a great day all
possunt quia posse videntur - we can because we know we can
  • Yes, LMH... meant to put run and walk! Was too busy dealing with the large bag of damsons that a friend gave me!
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

    Cold here this morning

    What: eating
Why: 8.5 parkruns tomorrow. Meeting at 6:30 and aim to do last one at 7:30 pm
    Last hard: Saturday's long run
    Lyrics: nope

    SC great kit!
    Oh that looks rough
Well done for keeping the streak wabo
Sounds like a nice walk poppy
    Have a lovely day all
  • Morning all
    OH - Looks, erm, fun!?!
LmH - I have your QoP sympathies, I'm next due under the elbows on Monday. Can't wait....
    What - easy running
Why - mini taper. It's our junior club champs on Sunday featuring the "Dream Mile" for U20s and over.
Try to run this every year, sometimes I even train for it. Ran a recent best of 5:33 last year, if I'm anywhere close to that I'd be pleased.
    Last rest - Monday
    Last hard - Wednesday
    lyric - don't think so.

Thinking of throwing a late Autumn trail marathon in the bag: Meon Valley on November 4th.
It's just a long Sunday run, right??
  • Wow that's a great mile time Dustin - I've never seen a mile beginning with a five and I'm guessing I'm not likely to now.

What are you doing with your damsons Alehouse?

Enjoy the carb loading emzap. Have you worked out how you're going to fuel tomorrow?

Hope the remainder of your holiday is as relaxing Wabo.

Run done, a nice progressive four miles and it even brightened up for me.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

Lmh tomorrow fuelling isn't too hard. I just eat between the runs and there's about 45 min between each so it's fine for me.

Ale moving entrance for Cookie this morning
  • LMH: Wow. I couldn't ever contemplate running 13.1 miles at 6:24 :)  Ouch re. physio. Are you feeling confident for Sunday? Hope weather improves for you. I have the opposite problem for Berlin. Current forecast is 21 when we start and 28 around mid-day. If it really is hot I'm going to jog this and enjoy the crowds. They're pretty spectacular in Berlin.

Ale: I never figured out what the strange word was in that song. I thought it was something like "whoops"  :D
    But Bruce is great.

    Great news, poppy.

    Best of luck, em.

Dustin: Crikey! Miles starting with a 5 are beyond comprehension. Nice!

Hot again here. And it's been raining heavily overnight so this morning was so humid, it felt like swimming. You know the kind of humidity that envelops you the moment you step out the door and makes your skin all clammy.

    What: 8 sluggish taper miles
    Why: taper
Last hard: this run and tapering
    Last rest: 3/9
    Lyrics: no

I always sang Bruce and had no idea I was wrong!!
Emzap that's a lot of park runs!!!
So I've swum that half mile in the sea again, 28.50 today. I am so sleepy now!!!
    Chicksta hope it goes well!!
possunt quia posse videntur - we can because we know we can
  • I'm usually starving after swimming Wabo.

No is the short answer chicksta but I rarely am. I thought I had a good chance of a PB at Newark and was wrong so am even less sure this time. I was discussing tapering with my physio yesterday and how it hadn't seemed to work but common sense dictated that cutting back the mileage should freshen the legs and she said 'but you body doesn't behave as we'd expect it to' which is pretty on the mark I think. I think I'd like to give Berlin a try one year, must investigate how difficult it would be to get there and to find self catering options.

You're fortunate emzap, I'm not good with less than an hour between eating and running especially if I'm running at an effort.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • LMH: Fingers crossed! You'd easily win the age cat in Berlin. I think last year's W50 winners did 3:02 or thereabouts. Self catering shouldn't be a problem. There's Air BNB and there's also apartments. We stay at self catering apartment that's part of the Accor hotel group.

You wouldn't even have to go through the lottery in Berlin - a sub 3:19 marathon gets you automatic entry.
  • Busy thread, busy day, flying visit.
Good luck at the weekend EMZ/LMH and all other racers/runners. parkrun and Oldbury 10m here. Dusin..in awe
    Lyrics: Yes
    What: 6.5 steady
Why: Tired after last night's club run
    Last hard: last night
    Last rest: Sunday
  • Thanks chicksta - is it easy to navigate the city? Ideally I'd like to stay somewhere that didn't necessitate hiring a car but walking (though obviously not from the airport) would probably be less stressful with Mark than trying to use public transport. I used to be able to get by in German but haven't used it for many years so doubt I could string a sentence together now.

    Thanks SC - you too.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

Lmh Berlin is a very easy city to get around and though German is useful it's not vital as most people speak English.  I'll try and find those Garmin traces for your friend too
  • emzapemzap ✭✭✭
    LMH I emailed you :)
  • Thanks emzap.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Evening!

What: 1.5k run plus some walking

    Why: being careful

LMH: re damsons, damson chutney, damsons for crumbles, damson sauce. And I'd be looking at 6:20s for as long as you can manage them!

Emz: interesting day's cricket! Enjoy tomorrow, and don't set off too fast!

Had a chat re work today: not needed until September 17th, and then only one day a week after that this term, at present. Have heard that before though and ended up with considerably more!

Visited the former RW/GB team doc this pm. Looked remarkably well considering he has had two cancer treatments in the past year. Was just back from a two hour bike ride and played 18 holes of golf yesterday so seems to be making a great recovery.

Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.
  • 9 miles at midday including our local hill
Half a mile swimming this evening (sea a lot calmer)

Will be kayak escorting 2 swimmers tomorrow morning.
    Harray HM Sunday

    Lyrics No

    Enjoy (?) the parkruns emzap
Hope all goes well on Sunday LMH
    Turbocharged Dustin!
