And yesterday’s lyrics were “pick yourself up,” originally Ginger Rogers, sung to Fred Astaire in 1936 (and no, I don’t remember it). Astaire went on to record it on his own, and it has been covered by many, both male and female, notably Frank Sinatra. Barack Obama used it in his inauguration speech.

    Should have been work for me this afternoon to Alehouse but I've been cancelled so will try to get to the gym - feel a bit guilty as still have loads to do to get the house straight but I have to shop so can combine the two.

    Self Debrief

    Positives
    Marathon completed with my fastest time this year.
    One blip in otherwise upward wava trend since slump of late 2017/early 2017
    Was only intended as training race for GO33
    Beautiful location on lovely autumn day

    Plans
    1. Less last minute long distance runs with less need for 3 day pre race total rest from running.
    (Had done 19+3 10 days pre marathon and day following 10k)
    So one 15 (max) and one 10 before utra in 19 days with some short easy runs in last few days.

    2. More measured pacing in initial miles
    (First mile was ok but 2nd  and 3rd  miles at 9:30, average of 10 mm to 10 miles)

    3. Possibly more anticipatory attention to refuelling

    What: 5k slow recovery run, badminton later if legs hold out
    Why getting going again and working Wednesday Thursday
    Last hard: Sunday
    Last rest: yesterday (other than 5h30 drive)

    As it is rare I have to say I knew the lyrics last Friday

    I hope those that ran marathons over the weekend are healthy, it was grim out. I only had to ride up a hill for 3 mins flat out and that was grim!!!


    What: Hill training on the bike d&d run and gym PM

    Planning to test myself over 5km on Saturday, will be interesting as although I am running a bit there is no real training for the pace.
