Friday, 2nd November 2018 - I don't care if Monday's blue

Morning :)

Lyrics today: I don't care if Monday's blue

Oh no, SC. Sorry to hear you had to join the benchies.

Don: Sensible

LMH: But you can only beat who turns up. And I bet you still ran a time that most of us on here could only dream of. Don't be so hard on yourself.

What: 10ish miles I hope
Why: endurance
Last hard: Getting out of bed. I'm paying for having neglected the gym and have DOMS
Last rest: Monday

  • Morning.

Yesterday's lyrics - Echoes In Rain - Enya.

    Sorry to hear that SC.

Hope you have a good journey OH. Hope you enjoy the race and your week away.

Did you have a good run chicksta?

It's cold here this morning, I didn't sleep very well and my throat is sore so I shall see how I feel once I get going. A bit of a strange time of year when I'm sort of pre marathon training training which basically means ticking over trying not to overdo it or lose too much fitness whilst taking the pressure off to run and just enjoying running.

What:          a run of some description
Why:           the day has a y in it
    Last hard:   sleeping
    Last rest:    14/10

    Lyrics - yes.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Morning!

    Lyrics: yes

    What: short run

    Why: easy day/consistent consistency/injury avoidance

Don: I'm a sports' injury specialist...well I seem to specialise in getting them. Hope you get some quick answers, and the same, SC.

LMH: hardly call that a prize.

Chick: I'm with you on LMH being too hard on herself. We can't PB every time we race because of terrain or the weather etc. I'm sure it was a better run than she gives herself credit for!
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.
  • SC: Gutter! Hope it picks up, what a ^£%£&%!
Don: Same expletive again, you do right to seek advice if affecting activity.
    Wabo: Lovely picture!
Chicksta: Hope you get your 10 in, great satisfying start to weekend if do.
LMH: You have many amazing goals achieved and in the bag, if any consolation, I find your achievements and focus amazing and inspiring.
Welsh: Bloody hell! That is amazing, 10.25, you were suffering frustration with dumbbells and broken leg not so long ago.
Ale: "I'm a sports' injury specialist...well I seem to specialise in getting them." chuckled at that response. That's why we need to heed your advice.

Busy day yesterday, 7 miler yesterday morning early (7 also Wednesday), then looking after five girls, daughters and their friends (half-term), then swimming club time trials for all of them. Was really good, like an in-house gala, they record their times for every swimming stroke at different distances every 6 months to measure progress. Eldest had to do front crawl for breastsroke though, cant do kicking 'frogs legs' due to netball fall injury, she has MRI scan late afternoon today.

What: Gym session at some point to squeeze in, going heavy today
Why: Knees playing up, getting grumbling ache, no run today. Think they are saying "Had a busy few months, however your Garmin account is unable to verify that"
    Lyrics: Oh yes!
Weather: It is as though everything has been splashed with translucent gold. Very Autumn, but very cold.

  • I hear what you're saying guys but if I'm happy with my performance where's the incentive to put the work in to improve?

I hope the MRI gives your girl some answers Benjy, she's been suffering with that knee injury for a while now hasn't she? Not good for a youngster.

I don't call it a prize either Alehouse. Not sure if I'll run their half or not, will have to have a look at the course.

Cold and frosty out this morning but fortunately doesn't seem to be slippery. Once I've defrosted I shall wrap up and get out for my run.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

    last rest - Saturday
    last hard - Tuesday
    lyric - yes!

benjy enjoy the gym sesh, easy on the knees

I wish this cold of mine would make it's mind up, I think now its the chest infection still hanging on in a weird way!

what: an easy mile or so later
    why: race tomorrow, xctry!!
last hard: last night, did 3 miles in teh end
    last rest: 31/12/16
I can almost taste my 2 year streak....
have a great day and weekend if I don't get back on! Full on busy one again, racing then marshalling for my club

possunt quia posse videntur - we can because we know we can

Its the North London xctry champs I am marshalling at in case anyone here is doing?

  • Lunch at Inverness on route to Glen Ogle
Lovely weather today before Storm hits tomorrow.
  • Afternoon!

Hope the weather is not as bad as I fear it might be for Glen Ogle, OH! Hope it is an enjoyable experience whatever!

LMH, no harm in running either the half or 10k as a training run with a number on; usually of benefit! And I understand about being happy with performances: as a teacher I am almost never satisfied with a child's work...it is always a case of "how can that be improved?"

Enjoy the xc, Wabo and the helping. Hope anyone else pinning a number on or parkrunning enjoys their outing.

Hallowe'en: no. Can't remember it growing up or indeed as a student (students seem to latch onto any occasion to down more than a few drinks)!
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

and Cleo is set to do that park run again.....

  • Did the 10 I set out to do but it wasn't pretty. I really suffer from bad post-gym DOMS. Serves me right for being lazy :)
  • chicksta - I can feel the gym in my legs for a couple of days which is why I won't go that close to a race, it's always worse when you've had some time away. Well done for getting your ten done regardless.

Sounds like a packed weekend Wabo - hope you feel better and enjoy it.

I'm not good at not racing if I have a number on Alehouse  :)

I hope the weather isn't as bad as forecast OH.

Did you need to clear your head Dustin?  :)

Thanks Benjy but it's ok I don't need consoling, I did what I could on the day. Are you stretching your quads? Tight quads often contribute to my knee grumbles.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Lyrics, yes!

No running again today. Enjoy Glen Ogling OH.
  • LMH: never too old to learn! I know parkruns are slightly different to races, but of my 100+ parkruns not one has been run flat out. Tempo session, progression run. Have done the same in "real" races.

Any joy getting an appointment re knee, Don.

No numbers at parkrun so it probably wouldn't be an issue Alehouse - but I have no intention of finding out  :)

Have you found someone to see about your knee Donaldo?
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Nope, I’ve never been to anyone like this before so I haven’t a clue who to go to. My friends recommend a few but I haven’t done anything about it as yet.

    Evening all

What: treated myself to a getting a year older run along the south west coastal path this morning, then went for a nice walk round the costc by Old Harry Rocks
Why: a day I'm allowed to treat myself. Plus it was a gloriously sunny day
Last hard: short trip to swanaSw cottage hospital to get oh checked out (all ok bursitis)
    Lyrics: nope

I think the bench is full. No more injuries please!

    Have a lovely evening all.
  • Enjoy the rest of your birthday, Emz. Must remember to have a pint for you in the alehouse very shortly. And another for OH as it is the Griffin near to his area of upbringing! Probably have a drink for myself as well.

LMH: "I hear what you're saying guys but if I'm happy with my performance where's the incentive to put the work in to improve?" fair play can't argue with that, you have a point. Regarding stretching, interesting, thanks, I'll look in to that, I do some intense stretching (a daily routine), legs go well above head height etc, but is it glutes or others muscle groups... I'm going to look in to that.
