Morning :)

Lyrics today: I was told when I get older all my fears would shrink

Great pics, OH. Stunning part of the world. I still wouldn't brave those waters though. Too bliddy cold.

Can't sleep so might as well run. I guess it will be quite slippery but there's only so much treadmill running one can take as LMH pointed out.

  • Morning.

I hope the injury is behind you emzap. I'm feeling better thanks - less coughing going on.

Pain about the cooker OH. Beautiful place for a run and photographs.

Sorry to hear that you aren't sleeping well chicksta. Hope you enjoyed the run.

I hope Dustin checks in soon and Benjy and SC seem to be missing too.

We are forecast heavy rain all day and it's going to be windy and cold with it. I may resort to the treadie, will see what it's like when I walk Grace.

    What:            short and easy/gym
Why:             treadie or weather/need to get the weekly visit in
Last hard:     staying enthusiastic in the winter weather
    Last rest:       27/11

    Lyrics - no.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Morning!

    Lyrics: of course...not

    What: short and easy

Why: feeling a lot better but not going to do anything silly. Peak flow up to just over 400. Recently has been 550 so a good way to go.

    LMH: I marzipan 7to 10 days before.

    Dustin?

    SC?

    Morning all
    OH - nice pictures
Wabo - lovely to hear about the weekend's park running!
Thanks for the thoughts about the knee. Saw Physio who has a history of treating knee ailments (and working with a specialist knee surgeon).
She confirmed what my physio thought that it's minor damage to the meniscus something or other, probably caused by a twist or turn (I don't remember doing anything too sinister). The inflammation is affecting range of motion, but the fact that I can run on it suggests nothing overly serious.
Bottom line is that it is getting better but more rest and more exercises (she showed me three more including resistance bands) will speed the recovery process.
Suitable time of year really to cut back given marathon training starts in 2-3 weeks (if I do a spring marathon).
Good news I suppose, its the being sensible bit I need to get a grip on....

What - coaching tonight, easy running if anything
    Why - see above
last rest - will be easy for a couple of weeks
last hard - being told what I already knew

    Have a great day

Yesterdays lyrics were Butterfly by Crazy Town

What: hour on the watt bike d&d hour run PM
Why : it's the magic number
    Last hard : Sunday
    Last rest : 31st October
    Lyrics : no

    Morning all
Gobi I was just wondering about lyrics, have a good run, I'll be close to an hour tonight too!
OH wow swim at dawn followed by that glorious run, great pics.  Boo to the cooker though!
emzap Cheers, I did another 20 this morning and yes Cleo is so cute.  Hope run wasn't too slippy
LMH enjoy your short and easy & gym
alehouse glad to hear you are on the mend
Dustin, yippee! The news you wanted for sure
OH did you do badminton as well???

WHat: 20 pressups, tai chi, 5 mile run later
why: need to up the mileage ever so slowly...
    last hard: yesterday am
    last rest: 31/12/16

    have a good day all
possunt quia posse videntur - we can because we know we can
  • LMH/Chicksta: Weather really poor here, teadmill could be wise, very slippy out with the wet leaves having to treat them with the same respect as ice.
OH: Looking mighty fine in your neck of the woods
Gobi: Good going an hour on Watt bike a fair old stint there, hope you had something to occupy the mind.
Wabo: 5 miler later, that a mighty fine number also for a streak runner.
Ale: Good to see you feeling better
Dustin: A real ^&*&^er when you have an injury that you can't fathom out when and where it originated. I know what you mean by running on it though, I've had twists etc, but if you know the motion you are taking and not giving it surprises it is managable. I've got some really sharp lower back pain at the moment, I sit up or bend and it is "yowsers!"* (*replace for any expletive of choice) I went for a run on it yesterday, but couldn't do taekwondo last night, running I know the movements I'm making no surprises, but taekwon unexpected movements and twists and it is very painful.

Feeling really under the weather, not cold/flu but really tired, not getting enough sleep and brings on aches and cold-like symptoms, also have lower back pain. Went for a 6.5 yesterday felt crap afterwards, really need paracetomel and sleep.

What: Going to go to gym later and do a high rep low weight session.
    Why: Get out get moving
Lyrics: 83% Yes 17% No, Binary answer No
  • Wabo: You're doing great on upping the mileage.

Dustin: Good news. Bet you're relieved.

LMH: was wondering about SC and Benjy too. I'm the world's worst sleeper, honestly. Effing menopause makes it even worse :#  Fell asleep at 11, was wide awake at 3 and eventually gave up and got out of bed at 4:30. At least work stress keeps me awake at my desk.

Glad you're chest infection is on the way out, Ale. I'm wheezing and coughing again but peak flow is pretty much normal.

Managed 12 miles in the end. A few hairy moments on black ice but after 3 miles or so I found a cadence that worked well on the ice-covered pavement and had a really good run. The stars were out and there was almost no wind.
  • That sounds pretty positive Dustin and I know you'll take the long view.

Good news your peak flow is increasing Alehouse.

Sorry to hear that you're under the weather too Benjy, here's a lot of it about

I know you said you were still pondering your target for 2020 Gobi but have you decided about next year yet?

Building the miles slowly is the way to do it Wabo.

I unexpectedly managed to dodge the rain and bag a long run, pleased with that as I was beginning to think it wasn't going to happen this week.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Afternoon!

Dustin: injury sounds similar to my meniscus injury from June, although there was no way I could run on it. The answer seems to have been to gently build the muscles above the knee, plus stretched as slowly as possible, plus ice.

Glad you avoided the rain, LMH; I certainly didn't on my run. Was quite pleasant though as I was dressed for it, unlike at work when I got soaked when going from one building to another to another and back. Off to the opticians again for what will hopefully a final check...and probably another soaking.

  • xposted earlier, Benjy. Good to see you. Not so good to hear you're a bit poorly. Time of year, I guess.

    Take an umbrella, ale.

Just signed my part-time contract this minute. YAY! I'm sooo relieved :) Going forward I work Tuesday - Friday, having the Monday off. Only 2 more Mondays to work then. 24th and 31st December are bank holidays here.

  • Evening! Mind you as it never got light today I could have said "evening" earlier!

Good news on the contract, Chick! I rarely work Mondays either. Mind you I am retired. Sort of.
Umbrella is a struggle because of shoulder injuries. Nowt wrong with a flat cap.
    And opticians was good.

    Amusing incident at work...
six year old said to me, "You'd make a good Santa!"
"Why, Ella? Is it because I'm fat?"
    "No. You're old."
    "Thanks Ella."

  • As long as they don't expect you to do the usual amount of work in four days instead of five chicksta............

Pleased to hear it was good news at the opticians Alehouse, forgot to say thanks for the xmas cake info, guess I'd better think about doing battle with the marzipan soon. You might be carrying more weight than you'd like but you're not fat!
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
