Tuesday 29th January 2019 - 'Tonight, I'm gonna have myself a real good time'

Morning all,

Lyrics: 'Tonight, I'm gonna have myself a real good time'.

On train back from London so thought I would pop by the forums and start off the thread.

Hope everybody is good.  Been getting a few miles in, mainly on Wednesdays and Sundays.

What: Will try and do a 5 mile run some point today.
Why: Why not

Lyrics should be easy enough, couldn't think of anything else so thought I'd settle for this classic.

Hope you all have a good day. :)
Have a good day. image

  • Morning.

Yesterday's lyrics - Head Over Feet - Alanis Morissette.

    Nice to see you Ollie!

    Busy thread yesterday.

Glad your appetite has returned chicksta - that was an unusual dinner combination.

Do you have any merino socks Hazel? I find them very good for cold and wet feet.

When is the next qualifier Gobi?

    That looks bracing OH!

    What:          short and easy
    Why:           no time for more
Last hard:   not getting stressed about stuff I can't change
    Last rest:    27/1

    Lyrics - yes.

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Morning!

Indeed, good to see you OL.

What: short run, fitness suite this evening

Why: long run yesterday/stretch and strengthen/work

    Lyrics: yes
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

    Progression
  • Hi Ollie, hope the train was on time.

    Nice pic yesterday OH.

Have a nice outing with your club Dustin.

Good luck with the progression run Wabo.

Hope the niggles are not worse due to the long run Ale.

LMH: No merino running socks at the moment for me, might be an idea to look for some as long as they are not too thick.  I generally use Falke ones - a German company I believe, don't know if you can get them in the Uk.  Hope you can get the short and easy done without too much pressure.

    Lyrics - think so

    What: group outing this evening
    Why: it is Tuesday
Next hard: not going out at midday instead - fresh snow and sunshine!
    Last rest: Sunday

    Lyrics: yes indeed

LMH - April after nationals when my season ends :-0
  • Morning chaps, didn't mention, have all been living at my parents last 10 days to 2 weeks, house got decorated, gloss wouldn't dry, curiosity turned to surprise to what's going on, decorator got on to paint company rep, appears it was a bad batch by a very well known paint company, had no drying chemical in it, the really well known brand has therefore paid for decorating of house as compensation. Living like a nomad. Took ten days to dry. Anyway, that on top of other things made life a bit upsy daisy recently along with a lot of travelling to other counties.

Took daughter running again at weekend. She likes it.

    Welsh: Top miles there
LMH: Hope things ease off for you
    Gobi: Keep it going
    Hazel: Tennis rackets on feet
    Ale: Good combo
Ollie: Hope you manage to get your 5 in, judging by the time of the post you will be tired
Wabo: Of course you know the lyrics
Dustin: Good schedule tonight, get them turned!

Regarding the Merino wool, remember Selina Scott offof Breakfast telly in the 80s, she lives near(ish)by to here and now has her own line of wool socks she makes, has a farm of woolly beasts she breads to shear and make socks. That's one off the Where Are They Now? list.

What: Just heading out now, think ony 6, taekwondo tonight
    Why: Get out
Lyrics: Hell yes, thumbs up to Olliepop, I got one
  • Cor blimey Benjy you have been through the ringer but glad a good outcome by paint firm!
    Glad Daughter is enjoying running;-)

The very socks I have on my feet are from Selina Scott's goats they keep my feet toasty in the house;-)
    ALF: Always a little further
    Miles makes smiles.
    Progression
  • What a pain Benjy. Hope you’re all sorted now.

I usually wear thin socks Hazel and whilst my merino ones are a little thicker they are still comfortable. Inov8 are my current favourite, don’t know if Falke do them (too expensive for me!).

Aren’t they a bit short for marathon training Dustin?

That seems very late Gobi. I take it you’ll be extending your season?

Rain has started here now Poppy but I was fortunate enough to have a dry run.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Not running today by design
Swim late afternoon, badminton this evening.
    Last hard: yesterday's 11 miler
    Lyrics: YES!  :D

LMH- There is a euro in MAY !!!

    Evening

    What: rest
Why: walked back from running club yesterday (got a lift there to say hi then walked home)
    Last hard: walking home
    Lyrics: nope

    Have a good evening all
  • Is your foot feeling better emzap?
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

    good to see you Ollie

    Lyrics - yes for once....

Getting excited about the football... 0-2 down now winning 4-2.....

    Intervals 8 x 300m off 300m rec 5m in total

    Take care
  • Falke socks aren't cheap LMH I agree.  Pretty long lasting though and I very rarely get blisters.  +1 to merino base layers but they can also be bloody expensive.  Please send me a piece of that cake - sounds delicious...

Glad the house is sorted Benjy.  Nice that you can share running with your daughter.  I remember watching Selina Scott on breakfast telly before going to school - years ago in that case...  Interesting what she is doing these days.

    Nice intervalls yesterday RFJ.

9 miles on the track does sound hard Dustin.

Doing something interesting tonight then emzap?  (s. lyrics...)

Nice progressive miles Wabo and Gobi.

WP I like the idea of Welsh torrential rain - is it worse than Scottish?

Definitely take care on the snow and ice everyone who is affected.

What: Plan says intervals but it is very windy.  Postponed that and will do 6 miles with some strides (and find somewhere sheltered)
Why: I hate wind and speedwork..
Last hard: spotting the icy patches in the dark last night - everyone stayed upright though.
    Last rest: Sunday

    Lyrics: familiar.
