  • Morning.

Yesterday's lyrics - Change by Ultravox.

Well done on getting a session in Hazel.

It's a starting point Alex - hopefully the only way is down.

No idea what's going on OH but best wishes regardless.

Is it just a temporary blip Alehouse? Your half term seems to have come round quickly. There are a few people missing including SC still.

Hope the stitch removal is straight forward and makes you feel better Wabo.

    Enjoy your run Poppy.

    What:            short and easy
    Why:             work prevents more
Last hard:     seeing the clock tick down towards London
    Last rest:      27/1

    Lyrics - yes.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Morning!

    Lyrics: familiar

    What: short run, long Pilates

    Why: Tuesday

    Work first. Heavy frost again.
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.
  • Yes - bloody work getting in the way.  Same here.  I guess most have to do something to pay for the running gear and race entries (amongst other things such as food, bills, housing...)

Saw a weather map of the UK earlier on (our) breakfast TV with a great big 11 degrees splatted over London - that is tropical!

    Lyrics:  Yes for once!

    What:  Group outing this evening
    Why: Tuesday
Last hard:  looking out the window at a gorgeous morning and being stuck at my desk (shouldn't complain though as as a part-timer, WFH I have a lot more flexibility than some!)
    Last rest: 1.2.

  • Good news on the stitch and the run Wabo.

Minus temperatures here for my run this morning Hazel. Enjoy the social later.

Is the new kit to aid motivation Alex?

When is your next target race Gobi?

Have your legs recovered from the weekend Dustin?

Still frosty here Alehouse - hope it warms up for your run.

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

Chicksta: Pyramid lifting, where you start comfortable weight, do 25 reps, then increase do 15 reps, then more 10 reps, then up again 8, 6 etc. Or you go the other direction, or you go up then down. Pretty brutal if you want it to be.
    RFJ: Cracking snow pics there
Ale: Sounds like a right character, the bare-chested guy! Good 60min stint.
Dustin: 10 miles in snow sounds ace, now that is something I'd like to do.
Wabo: It is good to run with people, I'm Billy Nomates when running, just me and Jeremy Vine, he talks a lot about Brexit. Get well soon Wabo.
Gobi: You need to put bricks in the trailer (he he) , like a horse handicap
OH: Jealous here, an 8.2 city run sounds great.
Hazel: I imagine the snow is thick and strong where you are, however you do get better Summers. Wet n'windy blighty whatever the month usually.
Alex: You'll be back in the saddle soon. I don't think we have UKGT near us up here.
LMH: How you feeling about London? I'm confident for you, do you think it is more jitters?
Welsh: The miles you do, it will drop off, banking some good miles there.

What: 7.5 last night, 8 miles at lunchtime today
Why: It has do be done, a fact of life
Lyrics: Shoot me if i don't, phew i dodged the bullet.

    hahaha Benjy

Was -2 as I left the gym in shorts and tshirt for my run. Seems I am still run happily in very little but ride a bike dressed for the arctic

LMH - National Duathlon champs is on April 7th so that is the race but various little bits between now and then including a duathlon this Sunday.

The best thing about short distance racing is the lack of long term damage

  • Can I second Benjy's post or is that being lazy but he said it so well:-)

Great miles Benjy , do you have a race on the calendar?

Wabo: It is a great song and well done on your session!!

I, like Benjy like to run on my own just me and my thoughts or my ipod:-)

6.75 miles for me but slow in fact last 2 days been slow but I am grateful to run so big girl pants pulled up:-)
I have to decide this weekend if I want to run Great Welsh Half marathon in April or not.Am I the only one to think £40 for a half is steep or am I a little  frugal with my cash...LOL
    ALF: Always a little further
    Miles makes smiles.

  • Unfortunately I think it's about the going rate for the big events Poppy, guess it depends on what you want and what you want to spend your money on. No doubt there are cheaper options but whether the logistics etc work for you or not is another matter.

I'd like to run in company more than I do Benjy but with the odd hours it's difficult or more accurately I could do it but I'd have to make much more of an effort and running wouldn't fit as easily into life as it does if I run solo. Too far away from London to say yet. No jitters, just comparing last year's miles with this.

Shorter races definitely mean losing less training Gobi. Where are the Nationals? I'd still race in vest and shorts but no way would I set out on a training run in them in these temperatures! Much harder to stay warm on the bike.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • I'm a wuss. If it's winter, I wrap up, even for races :)

Great run, wabo :+1:  And glad the stitches are out.

Gobi: I feel for your poor girlfriend struggling to keep up ;)

Benjy: must try pyramid lifting. I'm quite lazy in the gym, sticking with the usual 3 sets of 15 reps routine at a set weight. Good miles from you.

Alex: old and stiff describes me too ;) I'm still dabbling with yoga so I am a teensy bit less stiff. New gear is a good motivator.

    Nice pace, Hazel.

I'd love 11 degrees …  at the moment I'd be quite happy with colder temps but no wind though. It's doing my head in.

What: strength training at the gym
Why: needs must and couldn't face the wind this morning
Last hard: getting back to pre-lurgy pace
    Last rest: 23/1
    Lyrics: hell yeah
  • emzapemzap ✭✭✭
    Afternoon
    What: 1 km walked
Why: foot hurting and not feeling great
    Last hard: see above
    Lyrics: yes :)

Meant to be going into Brum tonight but decided it's too far.

    Have a good evening all
  • Sorry to hear that emzap. Hope the rest helps.

Patience chicksta, it's only been a few days.

    Evening,

Stretching done! Little bit of dynamic stretching and some light plymometrics too. Hate it!  :D

The new gear is a bit of a necessity sadly. I still have my same running shoes from my 70.3 in 2015! The grip on the soles is smooth in places! Ordered some new shorts to reflect my expansion! New socks were needed. Running jacket and backpack (with the aim of cycling to work again)

Wabo - Glad the stitch is out! And a great run too. Interesting how your HR settled too!

Gobi - will go and recheck the blog!

Working from home tomorrow. Wonder if my new shoes will arrive...
