Sunday 17th March 2019 Sure it's like a morn in spring

Morning!

Lyrics: Sure it's like a morn in spring,
In the lilt of Irish laughter you can hear the angels sing

Happy birthday Wabo! And happy St. Patrick's Day!

Go well racers!

Happy with yesterday, Gobi?

What: a run of some description

Why: probably cough dependent...at least it has given me the chance to start the thread early!
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

Definitely no morn in spring here :(

    Happy birthday,  wabo

Wind is howling,  rain is lashing. At least it's quite warm with 9 degrees

What: half marathon / last race in series
Why: it seemed a good idea at the time
    Last hard: that'll be  today
    Last rest: 3/3
    Lyrics: i think so
  • Morning.

Yesterday's lyrics - Riders On The Storm by The Doors.

    Happy Birthday Wabo!

Cold and wet but not as windy as it has been here chicksta. Hope you manage to enjoy your race.

Hope you got some more sleep Alehouse - it's about time that cough did one.

I know Dustin is also racing - anyone else? Hope you have a good one.

    What:           hopefully a MLR
Why:            I'd like some miles this week but have a guest
Last hard:    last week wasn't easy
    Last rest:     27/1

    Lyrics - don't believe I do.

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

I'm happy Ale but will not be raving the MTB race today. I'm good for an easy ride but no way I can race :-)

    What : mtb social ride
Why : sore after yesterdays race
Last hard : yesterday was brutal
    Last rest : 31st October
    Lyrics : no
  • Good that you're happy with your performance Gobi - were you really planning to race again today?

    Morning

Sunny here. Hope it stays as planning a walk to pub for lunch!

    What: walk
Why: keeping active. On the plus can now do 1 legged calf raises on bad so it is definitely improving
Last hard: staying awake. Waiting for this mysterious 2nd trimester energy surge!
    Lyrics: nope

Ale good that x-rays are clear but sorry to hear cough is still keeping you up.

    Go Go chick and Dustin

    Have a lovely day all

Lmh- quite often I can race a bike 2 days in a row so foolishly assumed I'd cope but went really deep on the effort yesterday so wisely decided not to race.

    Morning again!

    Managed some more sleep.

Wise decision Gobi: long term is more important

    What: 15 mins theoretically easy

Why: look at the state of the Mersey.

Re lyrics, they are the second part of the first line, with the first part being the title.

Very windy here and had all sorts of weather, including sleet. Sunny now, and hope it will last.

    Smart move, Gobi.

Em: Hope the energy surge is just around the corner.

Did you manage a good MLR, LMH?

Dustin: did your half go well?

I gave up on the idea of racing due to the conditions. Kept my rain jacket on and jogged round in 1:47. It was just too windy and 3k of each lap is quite boggy on a wet day so I didn't see the point. At least I completed the series and managed 15 miles in total on a day where I normally wouldn't have left the sofa :)

Will this wind ever go away?
  • Well done chicksta. Unfortunately not, windier than I was expecting from the forecast again here today and another rubbish run.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

    Happy birthday Wabo

sounds wise Chick, but a good run none the less

    Wise move Gobi

just over the hour for me and 7m

3 days at work now before holiday to Cyprus

    Take care

12 km walked in total today. Much less hip pain than yesterday. Windy but mostly sunny. Got rained on twice but only for a minute each time.

    Well done Chick.

Bed for me soon (no energy surge today then!).

    Evening All
    Gobi - wise choice,
Chick - sounds like that was the right decision in the circumstances

    What - Fleet Half Marathon
Why - It's just down the road (and much better than Reading!)
    last rest - Friday
Last hard - must be today

A bright but blustery day, but much improved on the weather we've had all week.
Training being going OK, but I knew I'm behind where I want to be (speed wise) scuppered by that knee problem at the tail end of last year. That and not 'feeling the love' for marathon running this year.
That said, a race is a race and this is one of my favourite half Ms, loop of the town then out onto country lanes.
Started off somewhere between the 1h30 & 1h40 pacers and first mile too quick (just over 7), but then got into a rhythm of 7:10-7:20. Even when I thought I was tiring it popped up as 7:1x
Got past 11 and was beginning to feel it but managed to hold some semblance of pace and crossed the line for a chip of 1:35:26
Happy enough with that - I knew I was a long way off 90 minute fitness but still not too bad a time.
Couple of miles recovery, 4 weeks to the marathon...
  • Swim after breakfast, walk this afternoon
    Making best of day.
last hard: staying upright on Marwick Head (wind probably 60mph gusts)
    last rest: Tuesday
    lyrics no

    well done Dustin

enjoy a pint of Guinness everyone

    Evening!

Marstons, OH! And thought you would know the lyrics!

Well done to both Chick and Dustin!

And am not sure that is my idea of taking it easy, Emz!
