If VLM announced that they were going to weed out, remove from the course and disqualify all the cheats and bandits, but everyone would have to collect their number in person from the expo, would you go for it?
Oh, and no more costumes that cover the face either.
Dave, sounds like a plan. The only flaw is that VLM have historically not really recognised cheating as a problem, and have tended to ignore it / pretend it's not happening. I can't see them doing anything to fix a problem which thy don't think exists.
Is it really that big a problem for VLM? I quite enjoy having some cheaters outed on this thread and it doesn't affect how I feel about running the race. I think it's such a small problem that it doesn't really warrant doing much.
That's kind of my thinking as well - we all rant about the course cutters and number swappers but there's certainly no will on the part of VLM to do anything about it, and I wouldn't want to be forced to go to the expo just to catch a few ne'er-do-wells.
They used take your chip after you crossed the line. Its only the last few years you've been able to keep it. I guess when the bulk of people come though between say 3.30 and 5 hours it must cause congestion.
