Tuesday 7th May 2019 - Don't wrap it up and go or hide it behind the sun

Morning.

Lyrics - Don't wrap it up and go or hide it behind the sun

I'm glad that's all it was chicksta.

Hope you can enjoy Vienna emzap.

That's just as good an idea on an active rest day Hazel.

I'd be the same Donaldo but sometimes rest is the answer you know - I once had to have three months of no running and minimal walking with lots of rehab but it worked.

Alehouse - I know but if I am going to run Yeovil I have less than five weeks so the plan in my head was two weeks recovery, two weeks 'training' and two weeks taper, hence being so keen to be back at it.

Good news, legs definitely haven't stiffened up anywhere near as much overnight as they have been, could do the stairs properly first thing! I can still feel the left calf though so caution required. It's probably just as well that work limits my running opportunity this morning. Of course tomorrow when I have more time the weather is forecast to be foul.................

What:           maybe a mile or two more than yesterday
Why:            see above
Last hard:    being sensible
Last rest:     4/5

Yesterday's lyrics - Build - The Housemartins.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

    Morning all
WP - sounds like a lovely race and great news for Dibs!!
Thanks for the 'good lucks' - ran Milton Keynes yesterday. Was unofficially pacing a couple of the village runners to 4 hours, one guy has had several near misses, the other was making her debut (as a FV50)
Sat on ~9 m/m pretty much all the way through the first half, hitting halfway in 1:58:xx. Went through 20 in 3.02, but the lady making her debut was starting to tire. I urged the other guy to stick with the pace and we'd see him at the finish. Pace obviously slowed a bit but it never really fell off a cliff. We finished in 4:06 which is still an impressive debut for a FV50, and the other guy lost the monkey off his back with 3:58:xx
Course was quite a nice one, albeit with a few twists and turns, although the signage for car parks and access to the stadium was non existent: we parked at the MK Bowl some 2 miles from the start. Not a single sign or arrow to direct you! Definitely like to do it again though, and a great finish in the MK Dons stadium.
I think I spotted Gobi (on his bike) but couldn't be sure.

Today - coaching at the club, they are doing long hill reps, I'm not.
    Why - on the rota
    Last hard - Yesterday
Last rest - arguably Sunday , but I did walk 20km - it's the village 10k/10m in two weeks and Mrs D & I always deliver the local numbers (saves about £400 in postage which can otherwise go to charidee). I know, probably not best prep for a marathon....
    lyric - not sure

    Morning,

Dustin well done on pacing duties at MK a great result for both your   village runners to victory:-)
I like your pre race taper with delivering the race numbers:-)

LMH: You asked if it was faster than Llandudno no I was over a minute slower;-)
I hope legs behaved and you could run ;-)

    What:  6 miles easy
Why: Because I can and legs a little achy.
    Last hard: Yesterday
    Lyrics nope

Everything felt fine a little achy in left leg but all okay which is great news;-)
    ALF: Always a little further
    Miles makes smiles.

Oh sorry Dustin, I missed somehow that you were doing MK.  Well done on the pacing and to your FV50 for her debut mara and the 3:58 finisher.  After that I think I would skip the hill reps also :D  Kudos also for the postie services for the numbers.

Good news indeed on the legs WP.

Is that another mara in Yeovil LMH?

What: group outing this evening followed by the pub
Why: Tuesday and our group founder wants to belatedly celebrate his birthday
Last hard: not doing much yesterday - was fidgety but I think it was good to freshen up the legs a bit
    Last rest: yesterday.

    Lyrics: no
  • I get fidgety when i don't do too Hazel. yes, Yeovil is a marathon. There is the option of a half but if nothing else I'd probably do the full as a training run as mark is doing it so the alternative is many hours waiting around.

    Nice pacing Dustin.

It sounds as though you can put that minute down to the course though Poppy?

Lovely morning for running here, probably just as well that work means that I am time constrained as it would have been very tempting to have run further otherwise. I can still feel the left calf but I'd say it's 90% now.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

    Afternoon!

    Good pacing duties, Dustin!

    Lyrics: no

What: short run and long Pilates type stretching

    Why: Tuesday routine

Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

    Afternoon

    What: travel to Vienna
    Why: conference
Last hard: that. Airports and plane alone with a bump and bags is much more tiring than without a bump!
    Lyrics: nope

Great pacing duties Dustin. Hope you're not too sore today.
Glad you're legs are getting there lmh.
    Ale how's the Achilles today?
    Have a great day all

No surprise, em. Air travel is quite exhausting.

Dustin: Well paced and both runners should be proud of their achievements. Spotting Gobi on a bike is probably just some dust aloud going by making a "whoosh" sound  :D

LMH: Was Yeovil the race where you obliterated the course record last year? Doing it as a training run if recovery isn't going well enough for another PB attempt sounds like a good option.

I'm going to find a few low key marathons in preparation for Two Oceans next year. Only heard yesterday on Marathontalk that they re-routed the course this year for security reasons and people missed out on the most stunning bits. What a shame, especially as this year was an anniversary run (50 years I think).

Glad the legs are fine, Poppy.

    Enjoy your group outing, Hazel.

    What: short lunchtime run
Why: overslept this morning - post viral fatigue is still lingering
    Last hard: tiredness
    Last rest: Friday
    Lyrics: no
  • Eldest daughter daughter announced her engagement on Monday.

Sea swim so far today, maybe badminton later. No running today.
    CWC week next week
    last hard: Sunday
    last rest: ?
    lyrics: no

nice pacing and a good result Dustin
  • Congratulations to her OH.

Yes, I ran it last year and PBd there chicksta but they have changed the course this year and I think it is hillier. Don't push it too much.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
