I started running 9 weeks ago, with an organised group following the Couch to 5K app. After Week 2, I noticed after running, I had slight pain and stiffness in the area directly below my right knee cap. Stretching exercises and keeping active eased this, although it has never completely gone away. I now have the same problem in my left knee as well. I only feel this pain and stiffness when I'm bending my knees, such as going up and down stairs and squatting. And it is more noticeable if I have been inactive, such as first thing in the morning. It has not stopped me running, as any discomfort below my knees goes away quickly when I start running. Should I be concerned that I am still having this problem after 9 weeks of running? Or is it just normal muscle stiffness?
