  • Safe travelling everyone, and have a great time in Durban and Durban to Pietermaritzburg.
Thanks for the numbers - I will try to track you but if all goes well at SDW100 and I finish then I will probably be travelling and/or sleeping for most of Sunday...

Hello everyone, I have just found this thread so I hope you don't mind me jumping in at this late stage  :)
I will go back and try and catch up!
It's my first Comrades this year so I was googling away and there you all were.
Anyway I arrived in Durban on Sunday, I spent Monday and yesterday checking out the route by car with another Comrades runner. It'd be great to meet some others here perhaps over the next few days and chat all things Comrades  :)
Safe and hassle free travel to all!

Just been looking at the map, I see that the Blue Waters hotel is a mere 170m from the Belaire.

Hi and thanks for the welcome! I’m staying at Belaire too, I can see a few others are, it’s been fantastic so far, can’t fault it. Yes Blue Waters is literally on the next corner.
The restaurant on Friday sounds great, please add me if that’s ok, it’ll just be me.
My running number is 18153 for the list (I’ve messed lists up before... :D )

@pottermiss - where did you qualify, what pen are you in, do you gave a target finish time???

When you go to the Expo to pick up your running number don't join the exceedingly long queue of locals - I'm assuming you're an international runner? There is a separate line for us - probably with 3 people in it - just walk through the empty entrance next to the long queue and down to the International desk.

Good luck everyone. I’ll be watching on tv
unfortunately my injury has gotten so bad I have decided to pull out - medically advised to do no more than 10k for now
maybe next year or the 100th year after

I've now successfully completed my PADI "Deep Diving" cert for diving down to 40 metres.  3 dives today, 1st at 8am last at 12:30. Shortest permissible / safe surface intervals.  deepest dive was to 33 metres.

I drive to Durban early tomorrow. Have safe and smooth travels all.  Lowrez, please don't do your usual stressful stuff!

I qualified in Toronto last October with 4:14 which puts me in F seeding. Was hoping to aim for around 11hours, following a Coach Parry 11hr plan as much as possible but realistically just finishing would be amazing, will give it my best shot to keep moving forward...
Yes I'm international (UK) , I flew in on Sunday and go back to Heathrow direct on Tuesday 11th.
Thanks for adding me to the lists 😊

@mordo really sorry to hear about your injury.
  • Terry48Terry48 ✭✭✭
Lowrez, please add Mark Alderson to the Lingela list.  Mac3 already knows and has updated with Lingela.

Welcome aboard pottermiss. Belaire and Pen F for me too.

I’m travelling this evening, arriving Durban on Thursday afternoon. Safe travels everyone.

Sorry you won’t be joining us jar and mordo.

Sounds like you you had a great diving trip Terry.

Hoping you have a drama free journey, lowrez.

I'm hoping that Mc Hilly's spot was the only travelling calamity that will befall me; and that has already been sorted :) Nice one McH!

Lowrez, Mac usually reads this but in case he's not here for a while send him a private message. Let me know when he responds. I'll also send him a Whatsapp to add pottermiss.

    @Becca7 Great another F pen runner!  :)

Thanks for for all the welcomes, I do hope there’s enough pasta for me too! Thanks @Terry48

@Dannirr it’s been a while, I was mentored to a sub 4:30 marathon on here by Spoons a long, long time ago maybe that was was it? And there was a P&D training one too.

Looking forward to meeting everyone  :)

Congrats Seren, that will help you to be relaxed and enjoy!

stay positive JK, I’m sure that was just a one off, and you are well prepared this year.

Int’l bag tag - last year I didn’t receive this in my pack and my bag was taken to the collection point for the masses. A steward retrieved it for me but probably just worth checking it is there!

    Safe travels Comraders :-)
