Monday 1st July 2019 - We're always on the run these days

Morning.

Lyrics - We're always on the run these days

Mark asked me to thank you all for the birthday wishes. I think we managed to ensure that MiL had an enjoyable first without FiL birthday and Mark enjoyed his.

I hope the cyclist was ok chicksta, he should definitely have gone to hospital having been unconscious, fortunate that you found him. I never run with a phone but have been fortunate enough to encounter someone (usually dog walker or motorist) on occasions like that when I've needed to use one. Nowhere I run is really very remote though.

A shame the group weren't accommodating OH.

Hope you get some answers soon RFJ.

What:            short and easy/gym
Why:             tired/get it out of the way for the week
Last hard:     sleeping
Last rest:      14/6

Yesterday's lyrics - Sunday Morning - Kaiser Chiefs.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

    Morning!

A decidedly grey one; hope the rain holds off until after my 9:15 run. Cool, also.

What: minimum of 40 minutes with M74

Why: that's what he has suggested

    Lyrics: no

    June's figures: 168k run, 5 parkruns, 1 race, rest days 0.

Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

    Morning!

LMH Next race isn't until mid August (break for school hols which are earlier than in the UK).  Glad the family birthdays went well.

Not surprised you were a bit shaken up by the cyclist Chicksta.  Good point regarding the phone.  IM Frankfurt must have been awful in the heat.

    Nice trail miles Dustin.

Fingers crossed you get the MRI results back soon RFJ and such that a way can be found of helping you.  Well done on your long run.

Shame that the group run didn't suit you OH.

Nice to see you out with M74 again Ale.

Great June mileage WP.  What are you tapering for at the moment?

What: not sure.  Pretty awful DOMS today - should move the legs a bit to add recovery but maybe just a walk or a cycle rather than a run
    Why: bloody downhills..
    Last hard: yesterday
    Last rest: 28.06.

    Lyrics: no

    June:
    186 miles
5 rest or cross training days
    2 races (1 x HM, 1 x hill race)
  • A grey wintry day :(

swim this morning, 5k Loop this evening
    just the plan for today
last hard - Acts 20:4 (reading in Kirk yesterday!)
    last rest?
    lyrics no

cyclist would certainly have been admitted for observation on that story.

I wondered about your legs today, Hazel! It is indeed the downhills that thrash them. 15 minutes or so gentle run?

And wonder how Wabo's legs are also post family marafun. How was it?

    Morning again!

What: 44 minutes with M74 and then an extra loop for me to take it over the hour

Why: wanted more! Dressed for winter (tracksters, thermal, rain jacket). Didn't rain but is trying to now. Probably not as wintry as Orkney though!

edit: rain looks set in now.

Must be asleep today, thought I'd posted...

What: going into Birmingham this evening so will be walking
    Why: see above
Last hard: sleeping. Feeling a bit down about not being able to run and made me not sleep
    Lyrics: nope

How are your legs today Hazel?
Ale Not that cold here, just a bit cloudy.
Chick bit of a scare there.

    Have a great day all

    Afternoon :)

You're all right in saying that the guy should have gone to hospital. I'd have felt much better if he'd been sensible. It still worries me tbh but he clearly said no and I had the emergency services on the line who said we can't force him. It's his decision.

Wow, MRI on a Sunday, RFJ. Hope the results are conclusive.

Sounds a bit inconsiderate, OH. I prefer inclusive groups that go with the pace of the slowest runner (at least some of them). Can I have your winter please?

LMH: good to get the gym stuff out of the way ;)

Another 5k race for you, poppy?

    Thermals, Ale?? Blimey.

Wonder how wabo's family marathon went...

Ouch Hazel! Bloody downhill running does that to your legs... A bit of cycling sounds like a good idea.

What: 7 mile recovery run. I can still feel the hamstring so more pain to be inflicted with foam roller and spiky ball later
    Why: easy week
    Last hard: Saturday
    Last rest: 25/5
    Lyrics: yes
  • Definitely a walk, cycle or swim to ease them off Hazel.

You can keep that rain thank you Alehouse, dull here but dry - and I'm about to put my washing on the line.

I'm sorry to hear that the inability to run is getting you down emzap.

    Careful with that hamstring chicksta.

Are you feeling ready for the weekend OH?

    Any races planned Dustin?
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

  • Managed to coat all the front windows and door today so that's quite a bit accomplished. Builders are waiting on 2 new dormer windows.

I have some decorating that needs doing as well, OH! And the sun came out here around 6, but still chilly!
