Last hard:     waiting for the summer
Last rest:      27/7

Yesterday's lyrics - Fragile - Sting.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

  • Morning.

Good luck at the consultant today Ale.  Hope he has good news for you.

Glad you had a nice run yesterday Wabo.  How are the aches today?

    Enjoy the touristy things OH.

Well ran RFJ.  Hope you don't have any aches from the fall now.

Have a good LSR today LMH.  Summer seems to be moving on to autumn here as well.  Pretty warm here yesterday but weather broke yesterday evening with some impressive thunderstorms and rain.

Have a good start to the week everyone.

    What: rest day
    Why: Monday
Last hard: feeling enthusiastic about working this morning
    Last rest: today

    Lyrics: nope.

    Morning!

    Lyrics: no

What: the plan is around 45 minutes with M74

Why: Monday longer run, hopefully gradually building it back up week on week.

Quite cool today: currently 10 degrees. At least it is dry. Much of the rest of the week is not.

Consultant re back this afternoon where I get the full report of the scans. Imagine there will be plans to investigate why I have had a few fractures in recent years, and how to prevent them.

RFJ: Sorry to hear leg is playing up again. How much stretching and strengthening do you do? I would be particularly trying to build up glute strength.

Hope you don't feel too bruised today Wabo. As LMH said, can you get a longer run in midweek?
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

    Morning all,
Ale - hoping there is some constructive feedback from this afternoon
RFJ -well done at BB yesterday, and good to know you have not too long to wait for the consultant.
I hear you with committee shenanigans: my first claim club (long established) has pain free, seamless involvement. The village club spend hours and weeks debating such important issues as what kit to offer members and how much to spend on Christmas decorations at the Christmas party. I just do the coaching...
LmH - good to hear the MiL issues were resolved, enjoy the LSR
Chick - pleased the back is better and I have huge run envy: that course looks right up my strasse
Wabo - or are you now Mrs Bump? Hope you're not feeling too bruised today

AWOL much of the weekend but
    Saturday - track session 2x8s, 4x4s, 4x2s all at 80% effort ahead of -->
Sunday - Hart4 relay. 4 runners, a 4k trail loop, 4 hour limit. Basically run as many laps as you can in the 4 hours. Our team was made up from 3 different clubs (me, two from the village group and another lady from the other local road group).
The other 3 didn't want leg 1, so by default I did it, which would mean 4 laps for me.
It was tough going, especially leg 4, but pleased to end up with all 4 splits within 10s of each other.
Managed to place 43rd overall out of 197 and 18th of 131 mixed teams. It's a fun event, and better still for each lap you ran you get a token, 2 tokens = bottle of beer, 1 token = bar of chocolate.
So two bottles of beer for my efforts!

    Today - 4 or 5 easy + QoP tonight
    Why - recovery
    last rest - 3 weeks
    last hard - Yesterday
    lyric - don't think so

  • alehousealehouse ✭✭✭
    Morning again!

Sounds fun, Dustin! I like the token idea!

    What: 46 minutes with M74.

Why: we planned at least 45. Wore close to winter gear: tracksters, thermal top and rain jacket. It looked like rain, and it did indeed rain towards the end. Still only 11 degrees. It was warmer in February. In fact you name a month and it was warmer and drier!
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.
  • Morning,

Dustin: I like the token idea and hope you enjoy your beer:-)

    What 8 miles
    Why because I could
    Last hard:The weather Friday-Sunday
    Lyrics: Maybe so a no

Slow runs at weekend but today i was over joyed to have a good run and a PB for course which see's me climb for 633 ft. 12 degree's here so beanie hat, long sleeved top, short sleeved underneath a crisp morning which I like;-)
    ALF: Always a little further
    Miles makes smiles.

    afternoon all
Hazel the aches are achy, lol hopefully ease up tomorrow, just so glad my knee seems ok
Enjoy your rest and I hope you have a nice working week

wp glad you got the kind of run you like and a pb no less!

alehouse, it is a lot milder but I still wore shorts and a t, got more blubber on me!!

Dustin, oh blimey I think I am bump!!!! Seriously what a nightmare, my daughter asked, do all runners fall over?? My son said please stop! What a weekend you had! Sounds great. take it easy, oh hang on QOP.....

LMH and alehouse, I have a 5k run weds so potentially I can run 2 miles there and 2 miles back.  MLR at least. Doing 12.5 Saturday.  Best I can do, with travelling etc it is hard these days for me to fit in mid week long

    What: 2 miles this am
why: being careful still and slept rubbish
    last hard: this am
    last rest: 31/12/16

    have a good day all

possunt quia posse videntur - we can because we know we can
  • Glad to hear you're not feeling too bad Wabo - I'd do the midweek MLR if you can.

Nice to have a run like that Poppy.

Good work at the weekend Dustin. I'd be surprised if you don't know the lyrics.

I don't feel we've had a summer here yet Hazel though I'm still hoping.

Didn't they look into that last time Alehouse? I seem to remember something? Chilly but dry here.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

    Afternoon!

Yes, Wabo, run there (possibly a slightly longer way!) and back on Weds!

Yes, LMH, I had a DXA scan just over a year ago but my GP is concerned and has spoken with the consultant. Will see in a couple of hours!

Pouring here on a day when the forecast said it would be dry. And now 12 degrees! The sun will of course come out whilst I am sitting waiting for the consultant who is notoriously always late.

Alehouse and LMH cool I will do exactly that!

Afternoon and sorry for yesterday's absence. We did an MTB tour after brekkie and jumped straight into the car for our 5 hour drive home.

The most bizarre thing was that I had zero DOMS. The ultra dudes told me exactly that but deep down I didn't believe them, especially with the rather reckless way I threw myself down the hills. Must be the varied terrain that did the trick?

Em: I remember vaguely that you did a 3 day event but thought it was something related to fairytales and the Grimm brothers :) Would love to do all 3 next year. I'm hooked :)

How did the appointment go, Ale?

Are you feeling a bit perkier today, LMH?

Wow, exciting weekend Dustin. Love events with beer at the finish :D

    That run sounds wonderful, poppy.

I'm still roasting... Would love a cold day to check where I really am in terms of pace.

Hope work wasn't too bad today, Hazel.

What: 6 and a bit easy miles
Why: shaking out the post-drive stiffness
Last hard: convincing my legs to turn. They didn't like the combination of no running, cycling and a long drive
    Last rest: yesterday
    Lyrics: yes
  • emzapemzap ✭✭✭
Chick I also did Brüder Grimm euch is indeed 3 days and fairy tales.  You should do the 3 days one of this though next year, day 1 up to the castle was especially tough!

    Wabo be careful!

    Ale hope appointment goes well.

What: 2 hospital visits today (both planned)
Why: 1 to discuss options, 2 for checkups
Last hard: I am feeling zen at the moment
    Lyrics: nope

Dustin I like the sound of that run. Especially the chocolate!

    Have a lovely evening
  • Hope the medical appointments went/go well Alehouse and emzap.

chicksta - not breaking on the downhills is much easier on the quads. Unfortunately I haven't found the cooler weather has had any positive impact on my pace but I'm still blaming the lack on the high mileage. Yes thanks, definitely feeling a bit brighter today.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

Hope all was good news, Emz! Still waiting for 3 pm appointment!

So, just back from appointment, and yes, it was over an hour late and yes the sun came out the minute the minute I arrived at the venue...and is still out. 17 degrees and quite pleasant.
Anyway, not sure what to write apart from consultant was pleased with progress but scan showed that further investigations are needed, not least related to osteopenia. He is also going to get a further specialist to check the scan results. So no real news!

  • I'd hold on to the 'pleased with progress' for now Alehouse - and hope that the further tests are swift and don't revel anything amiss.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

    Yes, positive thoughts here, LMH!

sorry to hear no real answers Ale, keep positive though.

Ale ref stretching, yes stretch plenty, but as always, could be better and improved....

Delete what I said yesterday about appointment in October.... got a call today (unknown caller) so thought best take it... so glad I did, offered a cancellation appointment for 1200 tomorrow (Tuesday), so chuffed and now a little excited that I may get some answers.....

Dustin, its amazing how some committees work and how petty some things can be that cause big issues....

All good from yesterdays outing and falling and has an incident free recovery run tonight of 4.37m.

Hope your race goes well on Wednesday Wabo

    Take care
