Friday 16th August 2019 Been beat up and battered 'round

Morning!

Lyrics: Been beat up and battered 'round
Been sent up, and I've been shot down

What: short and gentle run off road

Why: being careful...and the weather forecast is foul. Supposed to be watching cricket this evening...

Hope the weather is perfect for your race, Hazel! Enjoy!

Lyrics seem applicable to quite a few at present! May have had them before?

Not a good night's seep so far; will try again!

Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

  • Morning.

Yesterday's lyrics - Day After Day - Texas.

Have you contacted the MS Society for some support RFJ?

I hope you get on with it chicksta - I've yet to try mine. I'm on summer holidays (more or less) so can be very flexible time wise.

Foul forecast here too Alehouse though dry currently, doubt I'll get Grace walked and my run in before the rain starts but I'll live in help.

Hope you have a good race Hazel.

What:          hopefully a MLR but may be shorter
    Why:           aiming for high mileage
    Last hard:   believing it's August
    Last rest:     27/7

    Lyrics - think so.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Morning!

Thanks for the good lucks for the race this evening.

Hope you got in a bit more sleep Ale.

You (and everyone else) really could do with a break in the weather LMH.  If you had a great run yesterday despite the weather then try to recreate that (even if shorter)?  I have only run in my trousers a few times in minus temperatures and strong winds.  Generally with tights underneath.

Well done to Miss D. Dustin, I'm not at all jealous of your planned trip to Chamonix.

Nice puffin photo OH.  Hope you have a good boat crossing today.

Blackberries aren't very good this year yet emzap - small and sour at the moment - guess it was too dry for a while.

Feeling under the weather has gone on for a bit now WP: have you had that checked out?

Well done on the tempo run RFJ.

What: hill race this evening - 11k / 600m ascent
Why: race series continuing after the school holiday break
Last hard: that will be - need to check the route/profile still though
    Last rest: yesterday

    Lyrics: vaguely familiar.

    hazel good luck today!
Dustin, what lovely news re daughter and the trip! Enjoy the easy
poppy hope you feel better soon
LMH enjoy mlr or the shorter, think some ounces may have come off (me) with the increase...
Lyrics are familiar, feel that way myself
alehouse enjoy short and gentle off road

what: 3 short and gentle off road with mate, same as you alehouse
why: long run tomorrow, aiming maybe to do 6, park run, then 3
    last hard: yesterday
    last rest: 31/12/16

Tomorrow will depend on the weather as I cant be changing shoes to do a muddy park run
Have a great weekend all, off to see my mum tomorrow
possunt quia posse videntur - we can because we know we can
  • I was out early (for me) this morning and was rewarded by making it home just as the rain started, looks pretty set in now.

I rarely even run in long tights Hazel but then I also rarely run in extreme conditions and never in the mountains!

Are you secretly hoping to be asked to steeplechase Dustin?  :)

Surely you'd manage parkrun in your usual shoes Wabo? I do everything in mine.

Did you manage a dry run Alehouse?
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

    Afternoon!

Did manage a couple more hours, Hazel! But not enough!

No, I did not manage a dry run, LMH! Was raining just after 6 and it hasn't stopped as yet. And cold and windy. Short run wearing trickster and waterproof trousers, two thermals, waterproof jacket and hat.

Hoping it stays dry at Lords and also stops here in an hour or two so that there is an outside chance of cricket at Old Trafford this evening.

    Afternoon

What: walked to a tour around the nursery, stood up for the 2 hour tour and walked back
    Why: we are nursery hunting
Last hard: that was pretty tiring but I think easier now than with the baby in tow!
    Lyrics: I feel I should...

Wabo yes it will be nicer, go for it!
    Lmh that was good timing
    Hazel good luck for tonight
Ale hope you're not too tired
Dustin, I think that's your subconscious saying you want to do it

    Have a great day all
  • Afternoon,

Hazel: I have weak immune system so pick up bugs very easily sadly but RHR back to normal today-yay

    What: 6.11 miles
    Why: Because I could
    Last hard: virus
    Lyrics: yes

Great to see RHR back to normal and to extend run over my hilly route.Hilly race Sunday at least the temps are cooler-yay
    ALF: Always a little further
    Miles makes smiles.
    Progression
  • I did have a pair of trail shoes once Wabo but they were only really worn when running in snow so for the past few years I've just run everything in my usual shoe - road, trail, coastal path, you name it.

Isn't it a bit early to be checking out nurseries if you're planning a year off emzap? Lots could change in that time.

Hope you get to enjoy some cricket Alehouse.

Good to hear that you're better Poppy.

That's a lot of rain everywhere ... Not so bad here 🤞

Good luck, Hazel. Hope it goes well. That's roughly my elevation gain from last week but over 1/3 of the distance. Ouch. I'd be walking loads ...

    Glad you're feeling better, poppy.

    Enjoy the pub, ale.

Good luck parkrunners. I'll be volunteering tomorrow.

    Nice rain dodging, LMH.

Good to see you pop in and in good spirits, RFJ.

    What: another MLR
    Why: the road to Berlin
Last hard: still busy at work and unable to sleep much
    Last rest: Sunday
    Lyrics: yes

Good that you banked another MLR, Chick!
I was surprised by the nursery talk too!
Hope the journey back is not too choppy, OH! Will be in the Griffin shortly!
