Tuesday 5th May 2020 - Like a cat dragged in from the rain

Morning.

Kitty inspired lyrics this morning as couldn't think of anything else right now sorry.

Like a cat dragged in from the rain
Who goes straight back out and do it all over again...

Already rushed in with soaking fur twice - it is a dull and wet day here at the moment.

Have a good day all, back in a bit.

What: some general aerobic miles this afternoon
Why: Tuesday habit
Last hard: having to kill a blackbird yesterday - not bought in by said kitty - it flew against the kitchen window and was in a bit of a state.  Couldn't leave it to die or be found by the cats. :/
Last rest: 30.03.

  • Morning.

Yesterday's lyrics - Too Much Too Soon by Green Day.

Bright but breezy and chilly here Hazel.  You are good being able to do that for the blackbird, I've been in that position and couldn't bring myself to do the right thing - one of the main reasons I don't eat meat.

    What:           hopefully short and easy
    Why:            sanity
Last hard:    not being able to run yesterday
    Last rest:     4/5

    Lyrics - no.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

    Morning!

    Lyrics: no

    Bright but very blustery here.

What: another of those whatever the legs decide run, plus stretches

Why: running to feel, injury protection etc.
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

    What 6.16 miles
    Why: Because
    Last hard: tiredness/world

Very windy and cold here but no moaning at all I am grateful to run:-)
    ALF: Always a little further
    Miles makes smiles.

    Morning all
    Good veterinary skills Hazel!
What - getting out later, would like either speed or hills but rally not feeling any love for it
Why - getting back into it
    Last rest - last week
    Last week - staying enthused
Managed around 10k yesterday but was really going through the motions.

    Morning again!

We all feel like that at times, Dustin! Just run and enjoy!

    What: 10.56k, largely off road

Why: run and enjoy. And also the longest continuous run of the year (did 11.4k in January but with several breaks to get on and off tram etc on the way to a parkrun).

    Stretches later.

Was cool and breezy; well wrapped up of course.

Hope the short and easy went okay LMH after you weren't able to run yesterday.

    Well done Ale!

Yep - no moaning as such regarding the weather WP and certainly grateful to be able to run - would go pretty mad without it at the moment.

    Would vote for hills Dustin.

Chicksta those first 2 weeks post-op you wrote about yesterday sound very tough - I understand the foot in the air bit the flat on the back bit?  Maybe to keep the foot above heart level?
  • I had a great run thanks Hazel.

    Nice progress Alehouse.

Dustin - just do what you feel like and are going to enjoy.

Breezy but fortunately not too cold here Poppy.

    Afternoon!

Glad the run was great, LMH! Hope it continues!

    Dustin: what LMH said.

Was going to go into the garden to potter but too cold due to the wind.

Totally right, WP :) it's not a given that we're able to run.

Glad you had a good run, LMH.

    Nice continuous distance, ale.

Is that a club challenge, wabo?

Tough choice to make, Hazel so kudos you did it. I had to kill a baby badger once. It happened in Cornwall. It came dashing down a drystone wall, right under our car. Hit it with one of the rear wheels. I was so shocked, I thought I'd killed somebody's dog. Stopped to check and realised what it was. It was still alive but badly hurt so I put the car into reverse and the animal out of its misery. Puts you right off your food for a while.

As for the post op recovery it's apparently to reduce swelling and improve healing. I still think it's a bit over the top and may be required by people with weak leg muscles and bad circulation. I shall play that part by ear.

Rubbish run for me. Bad night's sleep meant I had to jump out of bed into my trainers otherwise I would have been too late so body was unwilling. It was cold and windy but sunny. 5 slow miles done.
  • Working in garden most of day with sunhat and suncream
    Permitted exercise run.
Seem to be getting best of weather but locked down.
