Thursday 18th June 2020 - Old man walking by the sea is dreaming

Morning.

Lyrics - Old man walking by the sea is dreaming

Sounds like a good session Hazel.

Glad the achilles allowed a run Hazel.

We are forecast heavy rain all day and a 'high' of 16C. So much for flaming June :-

What:           wet miles I expect
Why:            I can't control the weather
Last hard:    getting out might be hard this morning
Last rest:     16/6
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

    Morning!

    Lyrics: no

Yesterday's were "When will they ever learn", Pete Seeger.

    What: wet kilometres? Plus stretches.

Why: I can't control the weather either. Raining now and forecast for the rest of the day.
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

    Morning

My achilles is grumbling a bit as well LMH but I think you meant WP.  :)

    Sympathies regarding more wet weather.

Good your achilles let you run again WP.

    What: recovery later
Why: speedwork yesterday, shorter MLR tomorrow so gentle today
Last hard: sleeping, ran a bit late and couldn't get rid of the intervals buzz. Aching right knee didn't help either.
    Last rest: 30.03.

    Lyrics: no
  • I did hazel but I'm sorry to hear that you have a few niggles too.

Hope it's not as wet for you as it is here Alehouse.

yeah we've had some of that wet stuff most of the morning but managed to dodge the rain yesterday
    What - short, easy & S&C
Why - easy day, plus I'm knackered - work is chaotic at the moment (busy)
    last rest - Monday
last hard - all seem to be at the moment

    Afternoon!

    What: copied RFJ

Why: I didn't mean to. Got fed up of waiting for my run and as one forecast said that it won't stop until 9pm...and another said 11, I decided to get going. Had only run about 400 metres when I went flying. My immediate thought was stop the Garmin, and then said to myself that I was glad that I had tracksters and gloves on. Gashed knee, banged hip and ankle, bruised pride. Got up and carried on, as you do, but will be rather tender tomorrow. Anyway another half an hour logged. Half an hour of stretches completed before I ran.
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.
  • Sorry to hear that Alehouse - please don't force a run tomorrow if you're stiff and sore.

Hope you can dodge the rain again today Dustin.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

    Afternoon all
Alehouse ouch! I hope you're ok
Hazel hope the Achilles is ok
Dustin it's not stopped here and I need 7 miles. Getting there.... Hope your run was good
Lmh hope your run was ok and not too wet!
What 2.45 run 1,  2.24 run 2 more to follow
Why weather awful so I'm keeping closer to home and keeping it easy
    Last hard 2nd run
    Last rest 31/12/16
    Feel surprisingly amazing
possunt quia posse videntur - we can because we know we can
  • Long and hard
    (Lithotripsy #2 that is)
    Knock the bugg€r into touch
Just waiting for plain home (direct this time)
    Last hard: see above
Last rest: not much running done this month but sizeable chunk of 4 tonnes of stone chips shifted.
    Lyrics no

Full but dry in Aberdeen. Quite nice at home after morning haar lifted.

Oh dear AH. Hope you aren't too sore tomorrow.

Ouch, ale! Hopefully it's just superficial bruising. I did stop my Garmin when I went flying over that darn dog earlier this year :D

Double-ouch OH. Hopefully they smashed the kidney stone into smithereens and you are pain-free.

Great interval session yesterday, Hazel. I'm the same if I do anything speedy in the evening. Especially if it goes well ;)

    +1 for chaotic work, Dustin

Glad the achilles is settling, poppy

You and Cleo on the bike will be fun, wabo

45 mins of s&c done. I dug out my theraband again and it promptly snapped. Well, I've had it for 10+ years, so I guess it got a bit tired.
  • I was soaked Wabo. Hope you managed to get your miles in.

Safe journey OH. I hope the procedure is the last you'll need.

Sounds as though it's time to treat yourself to a new one chicksta.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Elspeth also stopped her Garmin at the onset of her bleed too LOL

At home now lounging in a hot bath as I am not due more painkillers yet.

Came home to ongoing birthday distance garden gathering (although dulled over now)

Glad you are back safely, OH...and a big happy birthday to Elspeth!

    Hey everyone.

Alehouse, that sounds bad, hope you are okay tomorrow.
    AOH, take it easy!

Lovely and warm and sunny here today, very hot for running but after the winter we had, I am soaking up that sun!

After a 10 mile run yesterday, I woke up at 6 and headed out for 5 this morning and then 5 this afternoon.  That was the challenge completed - 95 miles in 7 days.  More than ever before.  I did 10 runs, took just over 12 hours and 16 minutes, giving me an average mile time of 7:45.  I'll take that!
Will look for an ultra now with plenty of time for training.

    Lyrics, nope!

Well done Don! You must have been one of the first finishers, certainly age group wise?

Sitting with ice on my knee...

  • Thanks ale...had a nice day after long night for various reasons. Berry waffles yoga walk on a gloriously sunny beach with paddle and home to some judicious visitors with cake and tea in a rapidly chilling garden.  Peter home safely but sore...about to have more nice food.
Hope injuries not too bad Mr ale!

    Evening

Sorry been AWOL, week has got away with me.

Monday running club, 4x2 min with 1 min recovery.  All efforts done at 5 min/km pace, no idea how!

Wednesday 4.25km run back from green grocer shed (it's literally a shed in the garden centre car park that has fruit and veg!).

    Heavy rain here today.

Happy birthday Els and OH hope you're feeling less sore in the morning
    Ale ouch take it easy.
Wabo is the 7 miles for LEJOG?
Don that's a good weekly total!
    Chick how's the foot?
    LMH hope you dried out!
Hazel/WP how's the achilles (got confused by posts so not sure which one of you it is, sorry!).

    Have a lovely evening all.
  • alehousealehouse ✭✭✭
Sounds a decent birthday, Els! Was raining when I got up this morning...and it still is!

Well done at the running club, Emz! Always easier with others, even if socially distanced! Fortunately I don't have to run to get my veg etc: am waiting for my daughter to bring it any minute!

And well done Wabo: is that half a Hoppit done?
