Tuesday 30th June 2020 - Shirts in the closet, shoes in the hall

Morning.

Lyrics - Shirts in the closet, shoes in the hall

Mama's in the kitchen, baby and all

Nice progress Wabo. Are you feeling better this morning?

Grey and chilly this morning but not as windy as it has been. Mark wants to spend his birthday morning on his bike making room for the Snickers cake I baked him so I shall try a longer run though I'm still struggling for motivation.

What:            hopefully at least a MLR
Why:             have the time to pass
Last hard:     making Mark's birthday special
Last rest:      16/6

Yesterday's lyrics - Raining Again by Moby.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

    Morning!

    Lyrics: no

What: stretches plus a run of some description

    Why: Tuesday.

Grey and wet again. Currently 13 degrees. Wind has dropped by the look of things.

Yes, I would like to do "fast" again, Dustin, but scared of the injury risk!
Enjoy the MLR or longer, LMH, and hope the birthday is enjoyed.

Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.
  • Happy 50th to Mark.....new age group awaits!

    afternoon all
LMH getting there, turns out oh's mum, sister and niece have all been similar as has my mate who I ran with on Sunday. So a bug maybe, I haven't had any sickness and diarrhea though. I do have a strong stomach and bugs only ever seem to do this to me. Hope you get a good MLR in, I am sure you will make Mark's birthday special
    alehouse good going good miles!!
Poppy, happy t o hear that!
dustin, think I better swerve the curry mile :D Have a good run, I too would like to get some pace back, actually it is coming

What: 3 miles done, playing with HR
    why: to mix it up!
    last hard: that was
    last rest: 31/12/16

I saw my HR was at 122 so picked up the pace  to get 135, then dropped it too 127, took to 140, down to 130 and so on. Bit like fartleks really but using t he HR.  I really enjoyed that and it got me round my 3 miles in a better pace than of late

    Afternoon..

Happy birthday to Mark! Hope he had a nice bike ride and snickers cake sounds interesting.

Hope you also had a nice MLR LMH.

Enjoy Birmingham Wabo ;) Interesting idea doing the fartleks via HR. Good news on the stomach.

Similar thoughts regarding speedwork Dustin.  Need to find a balance somewhere between not hurting too much and too often but enough to do some good.

Well done on the June mileage and streak Ale.

Nice pic Els - that looks fun (though I guess the water was chilly!)

Good news on the achilles WP.

Sorry to hear that RFJ. Take care also.

What: group run this evening plus either run there and back or bike there and back
    Why: Tuesday
Last hard: niggly tooth which likely needs a visit to the dentist -uggh
    Last rest: 30.03

    Lyrics: no
  • Thanks for the birthday wishes - I have passed them on.

Els - the photo made us both smile and remember happier days, thank you.

I hope the time off and the meds help RFJ.

Pop in Dustin - there's plenty of cake left :-)

Sorry to hear about the tooth Hazel.

    Good news Poppy.

    Glad you're feeling better Wabo.

Mark and I walked about five miles this morning then he decided that he wanted to go out for a long bike ride (on his own - he doesn't like cycling with me). I had a lot of trouble getting myself out of the door, just no motivation at all, and when I finally managed to get myself out I very nearly turned round after a mile. Everything felt awful and my head just wasn't in it. I actually stopped and gave myself a good talking to and decided I had to do a minimum of four miles which I managed to talk up to six and following a couple more stern conversations with myself dragged myself round the minimum miles for a MLR (for me).
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Hazel photo is an oldie from 2012 Mark kakaying in Orkney!
Walk on Inganess trail this morn..furthest gone on my own since u know what!
Successful attempt at sourdough cinnamon buns, lunch, trip in to work/ex work to contribute to colleagues retirement and mini catch up then visitors in garden before mist came in and it got cold.
Enjoy rest off birthday and whatever else folks are doing!

How nice to post a pic of Mark, els

Happy 50th Mark. You have a toy boy, LMH ;)  woa, a snickers cake. That sounds soooo yummy. :+1: on the self talk.

Good stats, ale. :ZERO for me. But a minimum of 20 mins s&c every day. That is a new monthly best :)

Sorry to hear that, RFJ and what LMH said - really hope it helps.

Wondering when I may think about speed again ... Today is 5 weeks post op and I think it's healing rather well. I have no pain, the scar is smooth and the toe doesn't swell much at all and if it does (because of me being naughty and walking around too much) it subsides as soon as I put the leg up.

Ouch, Hazel. Hope it's nothing bad with the tooth.

At least the heat wave is gone. Bit of a shock to the system today with a high of 17 degrees ...

  • It sounds as though you are doing really well Els. Is a return to running likely in the future?

Good news chicksta. I was surprised how well the cake turned out.
