Training thread?

For crying out loud moderators (do they even exist here?). What's with all these individual threads with song titles?

Came here to read about training, can these not go into another section please?

Pibster, it is a great shame that you are so negative about the "Daily Thread". This has been going for well over a decade, probably closer to 12 or even 15 years. Orginally people posted their daily training, perhaps commenting on their own or the training/races of others. Someone decided to make it more fun by adding song lyrics. Can I point out that there are some very good runners and experienced coaches whoo regularly contribute.

    The format:

    The Daily Thread

Someone, anyone, starts the thread each day using a line or two from a song, usually the first line unless that contains the title. Everyone has to say whether they know the lyrics or not, but don’t actually say what they are. The answer is revealed at the end of the day, or more usually, the next day. Where possible the lyrics have a degree of topicality.

    People also say:

What: as in what training is planned

    Why: that training will happen

    Some add:
Last hard: noting a particularly hard run

    Last rest: last rest day

Often people will comment on other things that they plan to do, or the weather!

    Feel free to join us!

Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.
  • Apologies for being grumpy. I'm a tidy person and went into the 'Training' section expecting to read some posts about..well training. Nearly the entire 1st page were individual daily thread posts about song titles, it looked like spam! Appreciate there's not a great deal to train for at the moment so training posts in general are down, but still. Nothing against the daily thread idea, sounds fun but could it not go into another section? or have just one thread for it?
  • It wouldn't be the daily training thread if it wasn't new each day and it is about our training, just not exclusively, we also chat to and support each other. Everyone is welcome.

Were you were looking for something specific about training? If you can't find a relevant thread then you could always start one.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • How do we start a new thread?
  • There is no button anywhere
