    Morning!

    Lyrics: no

Yes, path is finished, Emz. On to the next mini-project! Off to the tip again shortly with another car load of laurel bush. Then need to clear ground around the laurel and re-plant other shrubs. I think.

A very grey day at present but the forecast is actually promising, and needs to be good at 11 for the next test. Quite cool when I went to Tesco earlier.

What: a run of some description later, plus stretches

Why: run to feel, and seem to have been neglecting the stretches a bit.

I smiled at you being new to running Wabo! Then realised that in October I will have been running for 55 years!

    Morning!

Can imagine you are looking forward to the weekend with your lack of sleep emzap.  What is your work situation at the moment? Forgotten - sorry.

OH - yes please to some more pics  (or anyone else..? - maybe one of Lola?)

Good news regarding the path Ale.  You need a goat or two for the laurels - they like it.  Enjoy the cricket if it happens and don't forget the stretches...

Great 5k Wabo - hope that Garmin gets their problems sorted out quickly.

Hope you got out for a run Dustin.

What: some sort of MLR this afternoon/evening
Why: not done anything longer this week yet
Current hard: more roadworks - DRR-DDRRRR-DDDRRR!! - hope they are finished very soon, need to get some work done and can't concentrate
    Last rest: 30.03.

    Lyrics: vaguely familiar
  • Morning.

Yesterday's lyrics - Remedy by Adele.

Unfortunately my tech skills are not up to photo posting Hazel but I can report that on Wednesday Lola roached for the first time (when they lay upside down in their bed with all four paws in the air) a good sign of feeling safe and yesterday she spontaneously tried to play with her toy duck (she probably hasn't had toys before). This morning we have been on our longest walk to date (just shy of five miles) and she was very well behaved.

Sorry to hear that you had another bad night emzap. Knees are complaining I'm afraid. It was the left when I got up, the right on my walk. About to get changed, head out and hope but I doubt I'll manage as many miles as I'd like.

You are very industrious Alehouse. How are your niggles?

    What:           hopefully some miles
Why:            it's a nice day for it
    Last hard:    managing the knees
    Last rest:     13/7

    Lyrics - no.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • For your amusement view from wideford hill yesterday...mist was so thick!
    Emzap...sounds tough...hope things improve!
Pics of Lola would be nice. Sounds like she feels at home now!
First proper run post bleed...only 3 miles round scapa slowly but enjoyed it.
Why   specialist nurse felt I could get back to normal though she hadn't realised another procedure is planned.
Not lookin forward to 2 weeks isolation  before Peters procedure though wonder if solitary walks of a quiet evening would be ok..
Plan for walk from Stromness if Peters stone behaves.
    Have a good day all!
  • Lovely to hear that you've been running  Els! I don't know what the rules are in Scotland but I have heard of people in England having their procedures cancelled for taking the dog out for a solitary walk so worth checking.

Lovely morning for a run when I set off and after a couple of miles my knees were not causing me any issues so I thought that maybe the MLR could happen after all. Worst case scenario would be a long walk home which wouldn't have been a hardship. Just about five and a half miles in I was running along a country road when I saw a man walking a labrador coming towards me on my side of the road so I crossed over to the other. 'Keep running he won't bother you' he said - as it crossed in front of me and took me out. I hit the road with a good impact on both knees and my right arm from shoulder to (fortunately) just above my Garmin. The man came over and I had to remind him to keep his distance, instinct I know and I could have done with a hand up but as it was I just had to stay on the floor until I got my breath back and worked out if I was mostly intact. The man varied between 'you'll be fine once you get moving' to 'can I call someone for you' and I'll get my van and you can sit in the back'. Once up I decided that it was very unlikely I'd be able to run tomorrow - good grazes/cuts on both knees, lump already visible just below my elbow and shoulder very sore so I may as well carry on. MLR completed but I'm not rating my chances of being able to run tomorrow.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

    afternoon all
emzap indeed about 80 secs! Sorry you had another bad night
LMH oh no that is awful! Poor you, all you flipping needed.  I do hope the aches are not too bad tomorrow :-(
els great pic, glad you got out!
hazel me too re garmin, it's been too long now! Must be bad. Enjoy the evening run, what a pain about the road works though
Alehouse I guess compared to the 55 years 28 is new! ha ha
What: don't know, funny old mood today not wanting to go out, may have to be treaddie
    why: who knows
    last hard: yesterday
    last rest: 31/12/16

OH away at his mates this evening and has had a couple of evenings out with mates, social distancing etc but I think it makes me feel odd!
    Snap out of it Wabo...

Oh LMH how awful.  Hope you aren't too battered and bruised :(
  • alehousealehouse ✭✭✭
    Afternoon!

Sorry to hear about the fall, LMH! Hope you are ok tomorrow. Sadly I know all too well what it feels like! Quick recovery please!

What: just over 7k off-road, including pushing a couple of bits

Why: testing the legs...and the lungs. Neither good! Again the hamstrings seemed to be doing all the work, and the lungs simply aren't used to anything but plodding.

    Afternoon all,
LMH - sorry to hear about the tumble hoping it's nothing too bad other than some bruises.
Kudos for completing the MLR though, a blessing if you do need a rest day tomorrow
Ale - excellent gardening skills, I have plenty of repointing to do if you get bored...
For all those that asked, yes I did get out yesterday, pretty much immediately after posting. Steady 10k, again over the fields with a couple of quicker ones thrown in, quicker all relative. Anything starting with a 7 is speedy these days.

    On to today,
What - made a point of getting out during the day, 6 around the village,
Why - recovery & recce of where will be "Covid" safe for training
    Last rest - 20/06
last hard - most of them feel that way at the moment

    Good weekends all!

I hate pointing, Dustin! And your runs sound good! I know what you mean about every run feeling hard at the moment; feel permanently drained.

    great work Dustin!
I am just back after booting myself up the bum and heading out, errands to do so it worked well.  Only just over 2 miles but so worth just getting out the door really.
Now I have the whole evening to do whatever I want, watch what I want etc etc!!
possunt quia posse videntur - we can because we know we can
  • Glad you got out Wabo.

Dustin - definitely worth making the time to get out for a run during the day - I try to drag Mark away from work for a walk at least.

I am struggling to walk. Left ankle lightly sprained (didn't even know I'd done that) and left knee very unstable. I think I must have twisted them as I fell. Left knee is swollen too. Fortunately my shoulder has eased somewhat. Very unlikely I shall be running tomorrow :-(
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

Sorry to hear that lmh. Rest up and hopefully these aches go soon xx

  • Ouch that's not so good.
Advice from surgeons secretary was stay at home as much as you can....
Lovely warm day and an afternoon walk from Stromness to Black Craig and back...could see all the mainland hills. This is supposed to be a sign of impending rain and tomorrow's forecast is poor but it was nice. Ice creams before return home....think it was first trip to Stromness this year!
  • Short run (2.8 miles), 7.5 mile walk up Black Craig from Stromness followed by swim at Scapa in glorious sunshine.
Making the best of my freedom.

View of Ben Hope and Ben Loyal in Caithness from Black Craig

    And back over Scapa Flow
