Monday 5th October - she used to work in a diner

Lyrics - she used to work in a diner, never saw a woman look finer, I used to order just to watch her float across the floor.

Night shifts at work again. Got a few miles run in before work though.

Confirmation a few days ago I've got a place in the 2022 London marathon, and entered the ballot for next October too

Still need to catch up on things - sounds like there's been a bit going on

  • Morning.

Yesterday's lyrics - Proud by Heather Small.

Good to have you back chamolk. Good luck in the ballot.

That looks lovely OH. I'm so glad the weather was kind. The bride looks stunning and Father of the Bride scrubbed up well too.

Lack of sleep is misery inducing emzap - good practise for the menopause though I'm afraid. I haven't slept well for ages now, you do get used to it though.

Don't worry Dustin, when you are released you'll burst out the door full of renewed energy and enthusiasm with abs of steel and have an amazing biscuit fuelled run - or something like that :-)

I had a really rough night and am rather broken this morning - Lola's morning walk could be interesting and will almost certainly be very slow. It's so much harder when you haven't trained for the distance! Should have been on our way to Florida on Friday which is my traditional end of season break so I'm getting fat and being lazy for the next two weeks here instead which should hopefully tie in nicely with the jab working (if I get it). I would really like to run a proper marathon and am wondering if I could get into a bit better shape for the Nottingham one on 5th December. Mostly depends on whether the knee is actually sorted or not I guess.

Lyrics are familiar but I can't name that tune.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Morning!

    Lyrics: vaguely familiar, so no!

What: something this pm I imagine

Why: work this morning, then car into the garage so hopefully a run whilst they are playing with it!

LMH: not surprised that you feel a bit broken this morning! Remind me, did you run a marathon yesterday?

Good news re 2022, Chamolk, and hope you are successful for this time next year.

    Back later!
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

  • Lost signal on boat while trying to upload this one
  • Home now.
    Will read back shortly.
Ultrasound scan at 14:20 re ongoing flank pain. Fasted before then.
    Hopefully, loop group this evening
Last hard: social restrictions at wedding
Yesterday was technically a rest: 4h driving and 6h on a boat with residue of eastern swell.
Lyrics: no, but feel I should ...
  • Alehouse: Co Cavan tartan with "Brian Boru" jacket
    ;)
Assuming virtual London Marathon for you LMH. Well done. I can't race at all without competition.

    MORNING ALL
LMH and you should feel proud!! It is amazing what you did yesterday.
Lots of amazing marathon stories - a boy called Aaron from my club was interviewed by Gaby, he did so well!
OH brilliant lovely wedding photos! The wedding dress was so lovely!! Your daughter looked gorgeous.  Hope the scan goes well
alehouse, I am very very happy today... Hope the car is ok, enjoy the run
chamolk, good news on the marathon x 2
I entered VLM in a moment of madness and today thought, why???

What: meeting a friend for a run this morning, might be a double day
why: I had a lot of food and drink for OH b'day last night!
last hard: yesterday oh b'day run, amazing
    last rest: 31/12/16

OH picked the route yesterday morning, very wet and muddy up and down on trails of epping forest.  It was great

possunt quia posse videntur - we can because we know we can
  • Glad to hear Lola is on the mend.

Great news that Giselle's court case worked out well.

Sorry to hear that Covid has come a lot closer Dustin. Hope your daughter continues well. Quarantine is a &umm€r but definitely indicated. My advice is to use the time to do things you can do rather than lamenting what you can't.
  • Well done Wabo and Chamolk on respective marathons too.
  • WaboWabo ✭✭✭
OH I didnt do a marathon, I only entered the ballot, I do have a snowdonia place next year though!
possunt quia posse videntur - we can because we know we can
  • Els looks lovely! I hope the ultrasound identifies a problem that can be fixed, it's been going on a long time now. I can't race without a number either - yesterday was very much a long LSR.

Glad your OH had a good birthday Wabo. May as well enter the ballot - you don't have to take the place if you do get in.

You are happy with the job then Alehouse? Hope the car isn't expensive.

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

    Hiya
OH - stunning pictures, looks lovely. Was there enough cake to go round?!?
Sage advice, and yes, it's only a week of it left so it's hardly the worst thing that could've happened.
Wabo - watched the Aaron interview, very motivating!
LMH - sorry to hear about Florida, but enjoy the break as much as you can.
Is it worth beating yourself relentlessly for a December marathon when conditions may scupper fast times, instead building a base for a proper go in the spring when the legs are likely to be much improved? Only you know the answer.
Chamolk - good news for the marathon. I deferred to 2022, just wondering if I want to run a marathon next year....

What - more S&C and running up and down the stairs and hallway
    Why - because
    last rest - haha
last hard -this week's gonna be tough

  • Dustin - unfortunately there is no saying that the legs will get any better. My knees are just wearing out. I would be going mad in confinement too, hope it doesn't get too trying.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Dustin LOL
3 tier cake - 9 total in wedding party!

  • Morning all, back from sunny - and rainy Helensburgh late last night.  Feel a bit boat lagged!
Lovely wedding day, next day a bit of an anti climax as no socialising indoors and wet wet wet all day. We did climb a small hill Bein Dubh for our daily shower and mud fest. Coffee in wet outdoor cafe with C and B in the morning yesterday, lunch in kind friend's garden in Kirkcaldy and so home. Sad.that siblings on our side couldn't be present but right up until last day could have been cancelled so good to have got there!
LMH v well done...at least enjoy some celebration of an achievement and a couple of days off!
Dustin...feel for you but it does pass eventually!
    Wabo....nearly at JOG yet?
Chamois and Emzap sound busy and tired!
Home to a surprisingly nice day so 8.4 m done first bit with P. Washing all done and trying to avoid housework!
    Have a good day all!
  • Dustin...can confirm that cake made by Bens mum was delicious!
  • I'm hungry now!

I don't have a choice Els - couldn't run if I wanted to. Need to decide whether to go ahead with the steroid injection tomorrow if it is offered - can't think what else may help though and if that doesn't the GP has said he will refer me for an MRI (though I'm not sure he'll be allowed).
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • OH and Els: That's one nice looking family:) and I'd happily shoot someone to get a piece of that cake.
Glad the wedding went well and that the weather plaid ball. Not a given in Scotland at this time of year.

Not surprised you're broken, LMH. Fingers crossed the injection works (if you can get it). I'm mentally getting ready for mine 😷. Having someone stick needles into the spine isn't exactly one of my favourite pastimes... When are you off on hols?

How much longer in confinement, Dustin?

Congrats on your London place, chamolk.

Wabo: You'll probably get in now ;)

  • chicksta - it a week Friday, just for three nights (assuming nothing changes to stop us going). Is everything looking ok for your break?
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • WaboWabo ✭✭✭
    chick, lol bet you're right!
aaron is great Dustin, he's raised a fortune for mencap!
SO I have run 3.77 thi morning then walked 1.7 then ran 1 mile to jodie this afternoon and walked 1.15 back from jodie!
Els I think that will take me past inverness, so still 120ish to go I reckon!
possunt quia posse videntur - we can because we know we can
  • Wabo...getting near us then!
Thinking were gonna be back to a 5 mile travel restriction by end of the week.
  • Busy day, wabo.

Oh dear, Els. Doesn't sound good. Are numbers up then?

LMH: not long to go then. We're off on Saturday for 2 weeks. All looking good 🤞🤞🤞 right now it's only overseas travel that is restricted.

So 3 injections done. Boy, they hurt. I'd forgotten how much. Well, it's been 7 years ... I can already move a lot better. It's not gone but it's now a level that I can tolerate.
  • Evening

More lovely wedding pics thanks - hmm cake!
Good news on the London 2022 place chamolk and good luck with the ballot.
Think you have earned a couple of weeks of being lazy LMH. Would give Dustin's comments a bit of reflection regarding another marathon this year.
Fingers crossed for the ultrasound OH.
Sounds like you had a good day on OH's birthday Wabo. Lots of walking /running activities today.
Hope the car is fixed in the meantime Ale.
Wincing at the thought of the injections LMH and Chicksta.

    What: 14k with 5 x hill repeats.
    Why: yesterday's neglected session
Last hard: the hills were. Wanted to do a couple more, 5 were minimum target but didn't think I would complete a sixth.
    Last rest: 30.03.
    Lyrics: no
  • emzapemzap ✭✭✭
Oh and els those are beautiful photos.
Wabo yes I saw Aaron! An inspiration!
Lmh don't forget you ran a marathon yesterday.

    What: club
    Why: got myself into gear
Last hard: today's been hard and 8x1 min at club was too. Managed 4:45/km pace for all up a hill.
    Lyrics: nope

    Have a lovely evening all
