  • How was the Alehouse?
Lyrics, yes, got a few recently!
Yesterday catching up with a friend (I've been a bad friend and not seen her enough recently and life has been tough for her), getting work IT issues sorted, I hope and a few walks on a lovely day here.
Some of running gang off for a run out west, I'm still walking, contemplated meeting them at shop for picnic after but now I think they're going back to someones house which isn't really allowed and logistics of doing any length of walk and then getting there even if they stay outdoors don't really work. So I'll have a longer walk here instead.
    Cafe coffee this afternoon.
Enjoy the sunshine if you have it!
Decided we're still going to Durness for a week in May - won;t be the same without the CWChallenge but still a nice place to be and we'd got the booking arranged last year.
  • Afternoon

+1 to gardening and short run. Former done, latter later.

Shame you won't be able to meet up with your group Els. Nice to have the week away to look forward to. Could you do some bits of the CWChallenge together? Not the same of course but maybe to enjoy the memories?

What: as above, might do a short bike trundle as well
Why: Filling between 2 longer runs
    Last rest: 30.03.2020

    Lyrics: think so
  • Hazel - possibly if I can get running again.
    Lovely day here.
11m walk including a few run bits, probably about a mile in all, so not much but a start if I can be sensible.
Coming along the cliff path could see about 20 folk in High Viz, wondered if there'd been an accident. Turns out was the coastguards on an "excercise". They "escorted" me around their setup! Then down on the beach another group of them refloating an inflatible stranded whale!
Hope everyone else out enjoying the nice weather.

Sorry folks for being AWOL. Work is a bit hellish at the moment. I can relate to what Dustin said :)

Wow Els, that sounds like a bit of a surreal day :)
Agree, Covid makes meeting friends and doing normal stuff really complicated.

    Yes to lyrics.

And you're unwell, Ale. Not lazy. Did the CT Scan reveal anything?

Very excited to hear parkrun is back at your end, Wabo. Is it just juniors or is there an indication for normal parkruns to resume as well?

I really miss my gang. We have another pub quiz on Thursday though. Looking forward to it.

Oh, and on top of work being stressfull I seem to have wrecked my right knee. I can still walk, but the brisk walking that I so enjoyed is off the menu for the time being. Jeez. I just want to run. I bet my knees would be fine if I ran :D

    Have a great weekend, all.

Keeping my 10k step challenge going :)
  • You can just see the inflatable whale in one corner!
Chick...hope your knee can be talked into good behaviour!

Afternoon! Too bright and sunny to be evening just yet!

Hope the injuries soon clear up Chick and Els! Good that you can both walk a fair way.

    Els: interesting rescue!

What: a very slow 30 minutes this morning

Why: went to a local park and bumped into a friend who I thought would be there! He usually does a time trial every Saturday in the absence of parkrun. Fortunately for me he has a bit of a niggle so we ran very slowly and chatted: first time that I had seen him for over a year due to Covid restrictions.

The down side of this morning was that the neurologist usually runs a time trial as well, but was also injured so I wasn't able to run anything past him! Chick: in theory I don't get the scan results until 13th May, but will try and get hold of them before then, particularly in view of not feeling well since the scan and also in the light of the second Covid vaccine.

Visit to daughter's garden followed by mowing the front lawn at home. Front garden is looking quite good with lots of tulips out.

Hope Wabo is ok! Not seen her for a few days, or Emz!

    Hiya
Els - sounds like an adventure!
Chick - yikes about the knee - you'll look back and laugh at all this in a few months time...
Ale - beautiful day for gardening

    What - track session
Why - Saturday & mile race next week...
    last rest - 10/10
    last hard - today

Session was 3 sets of 4x200s off 45s recovery , 3 minutes between sets
After a longer warm up and plenty of drills wasn't too sure how the legs would be feeling (felt flat and deflated on 5 easy miles yesterday)
I was however motivated by the middle distance boys also doing 200s (3 sets of 6 off 20s, in about 30-32seconds...)
All went well, having struggled to hit anything better than 41s 3 weeks ago, today they were mostly 38 & 39. Rep 11 however felt a slight discomfort in the upper thigh so eased off and aborted the last rep.
Seemed OK on a 2 mile cool down so a bit of stretching will hopefully see it alright. Annoying as the session was going well.
4 mile walk with Mrs D this afternoon (without pub stop) and no discomfort.

    Enjoy the sunshine!
