You know you left it too late to train a few weeks ago.....You know you should have got fitter earlier in tthe year if you really wanted to get this job and if it was important to you.
that said there is not much you can do to improve your fitness at this stage....
just relax and go for it on the day. It isn't a hard level that they are asking for and if you fail then start being more determined to get yourself in shape for the future.
like all things you shouldn't be aiming for the minimum level.you should be aiming for higher to be comfortable at the minimum level..
If I feel unprepared for an exam I usually stay up the night before popping ProPlus. Give that a go.
to be fair you could not have been training much or be very fit if you are relatively fit and struggling to fit in the couch to 5k training programme...
most fit youngsters should be able to go out and run 3 miles without a problem......
the couch to 5k really is a task for sedentary people to build up nice and slowly and get confidence.
anyone who plays sport or walks a lot or is active should be able to do the basic test without a problem..
I wish you good luck.but please work longterm on the fitness.dont just stop if you manage to pass the test.
dyslexia can affect a lot more than spelling VDOT
Bleep test for the police isn't it?
I think it's to get 5.4 on the bleep test (which is all that most English forces want). From what I can tell, it can be done at a jog, doesn't even require much actual running per se.
Should be fine. Unless you live on a diet of Big Macs, Red Bull and Sky, I wouldn't worry.
Edit:
Here you go- it looks pretty hard to fail unless you're a muppet and don't pay attention to the instructions (there's always one):

The decision to join the police force did not just jump out at you, your inability to train for this relatively small task and to manage your time and your workload will speak volumes if you get passed the fitness test ...
Should make the little s*ds do a 10K in sub 50, at least they'd have to train a bit for that.
senid,
I know, right? It looks more like an exercise in actually following instructions, unless you have serious mobility issues.
(..well at least make them do a sub-30 minute 5k, maybe, with periodic retesting. That's mild enough to be very reasonable, but the retesting might focus a few minds after a few years in the job.)
yeah but you have to do those changes of direction when you run through chinatown and through back alleys before rugby tackling the perpetrator to the ground.
it really isnt very assuring how low the standard is
Blimey, that is pretty easy though (just watched video). I'd be disappointed to be told to stop at the required level because surely all the fun is in smugly seeing how far you could get.
Nope, it's not setting the bar all that high, either mentally or physically. I suppose you could mess it up due to nerves the first time, if you didn't know how easy it was going to be.
What a joke that video is. He tells you three times about touching the line. Hey " I will give you a demonstration " lol. Then when you realize that you can do this walking backwards they insult ones intelligence by giving you another demonstration. Put a muppet on show to demonstrate the 3 warning and out rule. ( as if he could not do it )
You would expect to see this sort of demonstration for the under 10,s Not the police.
