Can anyone explain Couch to 5K week 2 please?

MikeyMikey ✭✭✭
Hi, I'm returning to running after a gap of some 10 years or so and thought I'd start with Couch to 5k.
I've done the first week and my next run will be from week2.

What puzzles me is that they say "you will alternate 90 seconds of running, with 2 minutes of walking, for a total of 20 minutes".

It's not a big deal but I can't make any combination of 90 seconds running and 2 minutes of walking make 20 minutes
:D
  • 5 repeats makes a total of 17.5 minutes
  • 6 repeats makes a total of 21 minutes
The only way that I can get it to be 20 minutes is if I make the final walk 1 minute long. Is this a typo? I know that the differences are probably unimportant but I'm curious as to whether I'm missing something :D

TIA,
Mikey

Mikey, you may have stumbled upon something here. I found a printout of the plan and it added up to 17.5 minutes, which is excluding the warm up and warm down walks.

You're right that it doesn't make much of a difference, but it's a pretty interesting typo as I've seen it posted in multiple places.

I hope week 2 goes well for you, good luck!

The NHS app/c25k has the same issues iirc

according to the app you run 90 seconds 6 times and walk 2 mins in between for a total of 19 mins plus 5 mins either end warm up and cool down. recommend stretching your calves. Maybe not necessary early on but definately later
