Saturday 4th December 2021 Oh, the weather outside is frightful

Morning!

Lyrics: Oh, the weather outside is frightful

Pouring.  And the forecast is for it to continue.

What: something whilst helping at cross country league

Why: don't want to get wet twice

Hope you stay dry and sell well Emz!

Enjoy xc, Dustin.

And anyone else racing or parkrunning.
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

  • Peter did parkrun whilst I marshalled, then a walk up Wideford and walk/jog down again. Feel myself loosing fitness but the running segments seemed better than yesterday. Could be wishful thinking.
Bread baking and making marzipan for the cake this afternoon.
Don't supposing being outdoors at a market all day is fun Emz, hope you're not too chilly!
    Dustin - enjoy the XC.
Has actually been dry here though a bit windy and cool.
  • Afternoon

Lol to the lyrics - certainly agree on that but none of the title please...

Helping might be worse than running that XC Ale - at least you would be able to keep warm.

I imagine Dustin will find some mud this time in his XC?

Well done on conquering the hill yesterday OH.

How is the knee today Els? No worse I hope.

I guess the weather isn't any better up there either today chicksta.

Good luck with the market today Emz.

    Yesterday's lyrics: Snowman by Sia.

    What: turbo trundle and recovery
    Why: Hills yesterday
Next hard: getting out of the door in the wet
    Last rest: 2.12.21

    Lyrics: yes
  • Evening!

I overheard two people separately say, "That was character building!" And that was before the horizontal sleet. A tough day to help at cross country,  never mind run it.
No doubt Dustin will post that his xc was sunny with blue skies!

Fitted in at least 30 minutes running.

    Another identity crisis, Els?

No customers at all after 11am...I gave up at 3 and came home. 7 layers kept me quite warm but it was rather frustrating!

3.5 km run this morning plus 12 squares, 20 sec plank and 4 press ups.

Sounds like bad weather up north! Just child here, bright sunshine though.

    Happy Saturday all!
  • Had to chuckle about Els/OH's identity crisis 😊

Glad to running seemed easier, Els.

    Hope Dustin smashed his XC

    Ale: brr, sleet

Emzap: we spent a few days in Brandenburg.

Hazel: I'm with you. Getting out if the door in horrid weather requires a bit of self talk 😉

A little over 5k done. Jeez, I'm unfit.

    Hiya
Ale - well done for the XC support. Much appreciated by all the athletes I'm sure
Chick - well done with the 5k, you'll soon be smashing it again
Well done OH, Els, oh? Els? !!!!
Emz - I'm not surprised the low customer count was frustrating. 7 layers, that's impressive!
Hazel - nicely done after the hills

What - Hampshire XC League race 2
    Why - calendar
    last rest - 14/10
    last hard - that was

Not quite the conditions Ale had, but yes, sun and blue sky! That said it was bitterly cold and the rain over the last few days had left the wooded sections a bit slippy so spikes (9mm) was the right choice.
Hamstring had been a bit grumbly yesterday, and felt a bit clicky on the warm up so opted for "comfortably hard" pace.
Last lap felt more tightness so had to ease off for 3-400m, but spied a couple of club mates up ahead so picked up the pace and managed to take a few places. Certainly not my fastest time, but happy to get through unscathed. Stretching now - supposed to be doing 16 miles tomorrow...
