Any hints and tips on how to find running partners? No one else I know, that lives near me, would dream of running anywhere!
Also, the local club members I have seen out and about are very fast, whippet like chaps, and I am a super plodder.. So, very hesitant about joining them at the moment....
I am in the bradford area, and need like minded ladies to help me up the hills :-) I enjoy running and am just concerned that the dark nights / mornings are impeding on the hours I have to run - I don't want to go out alone in the dark. (Call me a whimp but..)
I just did the Kirkstall 10k in 67:16, so that's an idea of my speed (!). I also am aiming for a half marathon January time, and FLM in April.
Anyone around or who knows someone who wants a partner or is in a local group, drop me an email :-)
Thank you

Just wishing you good luck in your plight to find a running partner. I was in the same position as you until recently and met a running partner (and friend) on this forum who lives half a mile away from me... so don't give up hope - just get yourself about on the forum and you never know who you'll meet.
Those are my sort of times
At last!!
Seems to be dark even at 6.30 now--
good luck all! :-)
I enjoy running on my own, and one of the reasons that I run is that you can do it when and where you want without too much forward planning, but there are occasions when it would help to have someone else to chat with and encourage me to do something when I don't feel like it.
I have tried joining my local club, but while they were helpful they are all like greyhounds and leave me for dead in seconds!
I think you probably have the wrong impression about your local running clubs, I'm about to join a club I've been along a few times to join them on training runs as a guest ( my wife has been a member for a while ) . I'm sure like me you'll find that there is a wide range of abilities and speeds and will easily find someone about your level to run with. Perhaps a road runners club moreso than a strictly athletic club. check it out, what can you lose.

Thanks!

for a list of clubs around London
Hope that helps, Iain
I have recently joined Dudley Ladies (West Mids) which as the title suggests is for ladies only.
What I like about the club is that they cater for everyone and ensure that no one runs on their own and if that means a fast runner running slow for a while then so be it.
The club is well organised, very friendly and very supportive. They have given me the confidence and motivation to carry on with my running.
If anybody lives nearby let me know.

Would love to meet new people to run with
Might only be able to meet a couple of times a year though!
Looks like youve been inspired by wine already
Youd have to use those picture phones or something
The burping would give you away though
Right, back to the references, looks like exercise is a chronic inflammatory state, though I musnt get distracted!!
I live in Raynes Park near Wimbledon but I am looking for some one around the 11 min mile mark to do some long runs with in Richmond Park. I'm a bit nervous running in parks at the minute as we've had a couple of rapes around here recently. If any one lives near Raynes Park I'm also looking for a marathon training buddie for the dark nights.
I live in Brighouse - not too far from Bradford and go out with a small informal group on Tuesdays and Thursdays 7.30pm, we are of various standards and ages and normally do 4-5 miles with stops if people need them! We meet at Lawson Rd (outside the council offices), Brighouse. You're welcome to join us
They do have a running club, which I tried, but as I'm not very fast yet, they very kindly adjusted their run for me, and I felt a bit guilty, so would like some-one to run with to improve on speed and for a bit of company.

Have you come across a good running club? I tendt to spend a lot of my weekdays in the area and wouldnt mind some clues on where to look! Ta
