What's the strangest thing you've found in either the pre-race goody bag, the finishers pack or won as a prize?
I'll kick off this thread with the following:
1) A half kilogram jar of Hellmans Mayonaise (Dublin Marathon Goody Bag)
2) A small plant (Comrades Marathon)
3) A piece of lava (Lanzarote Ironman)
Is there anyone out there who can confirm that every finisher of the first Sheffield Marathon in 1981 received an ashtray? I think this could take the prize

Definitely the bag of sugar after the Great North Run was a bit of a surprise in the goody bag.
a pair of Hilly socks and a bottle of Black Sheep Bitter.
Both unusual but a very welcome change - particularly the latter!!
the next year I won the same event and got a corkscrew, I own a restaurant and have hundreds of the things.
Thinking of sponsoring it next year, maybe to the extent of winners medal :0)
can someone point me in the direction of a 10k with beer in the goody bag please?
it's a bit far from Essex to N Yorkshire but Black Sheep Breweries sponsor a series of races including some 10K's and there is some of their product at the end!
I did both that and the Bungay 10k, and was starting to think beer in goody bags was normal!
Not too sure where to put it as I live in a 1st floor flat
A pair of basketball shorts, size XL. (I am able to tuck these into my socks to general amusement)
A lightweight waterproof coat (also XL)
A bakewell pudding, a malt loaf and a bottle of vodka that was blue.
A broken trophy.
A cd with a digital map of some town that was nowhere near the race. I have 0 days to evaluate it, according to the computer.
A solar powered calculator that does not work.
