I know, I know it's been asked before but following Fat Buddahs comments in another thread, I have decided to take the plunge.
Just a few questions
I don't have to shave my legs to wear them do i? I'd say my legs are medium grade hairy & will the tights & hair combo cause itching or will the tighs rip them out? Will my tights be fury if I don't shave my legs?
Should O go ull length ot capri, given that it's getting close to winter & I'll most likely be splashing a few puddles.
Are all tights created equal? IE does windstopper stuff around the knee make a big difference? Also, do some wick better than others?
As they are a new trail for me I don't want to spend teh earth - say around the £25 mark - lower obviously better - any reccomendations? Doesn't have to be rrp -I'm happy to shop around for deals so things higher than budget might be okay

men in capri tights is worrying :-)

PS If you really feel the cold they also make some super thick Trackster New Trek (with zipped pockets)£27.99; I find them too warm to run in but good on bike or roaming the hills.

PS You don't have to shave anything they are stretch fit without being tight.
But then again I do most of my running in quiet rural areas with not many if any people around. And this is not just because I'm wearing Ron Hills ;-)

That's all you need to know.
Blokes who shave their legs only do so because hairy legs look daft in fishnets.
D'oh!!
The (very) occasional kid doing a mini-heckle "nice pants" is the worst I've had...
ixus - no you don't need to shave your legs but if the urge takes you, just go with the flow..........
was in Decathlon at the w/e - they have some good winter tights (slightly fleece inner) for about £30.........I will stick with my trusty Sugoi tights again though.......
and I also use 3/4 lycra tights for colder but not too cold days..........like late Autumn
Based on FB's contrasting opinion of tracksters and tights, I would assume they are most definitely not the same.
Tights are lycra leggings that aren't baggy and are very comfortable to wear.
In that case I'm a tights person, dispite the occaisional sarcastic comment. Personally, the self-esteem that comes from running is enought to combat concerns about looking daft (which, with skinny legs, I'm sure I do).
I went for a pair of Nike Therma-FIT Stretch Long Tights from start fitness at £25.
I'll take them for a spin when they arrive & if I don't like them then they will serve another use as long john on those cold days & my ski trip later in the year
I have below the knee running tights - or long lycra shorts if you prefer.......
I'm also a cyclist....and have 3/4 cycling tights with a padded arse........
(also have full length versions of running and cycling tights)
I'm a retired prop and 16 stone.......
you going to shoot me??
or would you like me to ram the gun up where the sun doesn't shine????
your call
As to shaving your legs - mine are mega hairy blond, and I like them. However, it is true that shaving will help the tights stay up in place better and longer. Also if you're blond then all those blond hairs don't stick through and look daft.
On the whole I don't shave, but as well as running I do cycle a lot, and it's a bit the etiquette sort of thing to shave to look the part. So I do sometimes.
The nice thing is it's not irreversible - the hairs grow back, and you can at least say youve tried it. Besides it seems rather the thing to do now if you look at footballers, rugby players, athlete's etc
Ronhills are crap for running, make you all hot and sweaty. nike are good - just go out in the dark if you feel shy, I wear lycra shorts under my normal running ones as this seems to work on all but the coldest days.
Not that I will have to worry about them any more as I now live in the middle of France and am still running in shorts and vest. <tries not to look too smug>
I agree with the 3/4 length shorts though - should be shot or at least wounded on sight.
3/4 's on blerks are a bit dodgy!
