Just got into running, but not sure what the 'dress code' is. I also do a lot of cyling and wear lydra for that. Just wondering what runners wear? Lycra shorts/leggings or baggys and what is the ladies perspective. i.e. what would they prefer men to wear?
All thoughts and opinions appreciated!

If you do a lot of cycling, you are probably ok. However, you may want to wear something baggy over the top, for modesty, if you get the drift.
But lycra does stop chafing, so it's well worth wearing.
But from what I was informed in the pub on Friday night (if I can remember properly), regular shorts should be worn over the top of lycra shorts and underwear worn under tights!
Lycra alone would be enough, surely?
Best to be on the safe side.

Fit bloke with flat stomach, pert buttocks and firm thighs - yes
Fat bloke with overhangin gut and saggy @rse - no!

NO. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WEAR LYCRA
NO. NEVER.
NEVER NEVER NEVER SHOULD MEN WEAR LYCRA.
NEVER EVER EVER.
EVEN AT HOME
NEVER
NEVER.
Do I make myself clear???
NEVER

Generally speaking, cyclists look pretty damn fin...erm, fit and healthy in the lycra department.
No guy, however 'fit' (in all senses of the word) should wear lycra unless they dressing up as a Gladiator for Halloween. It shows all 'lumps and bumps', highlights any gram of excess fat, and usually cuts into the thigh. T & S moment here, but the thigh line cuts the flow of the eye from top to bottom. Shaped running shorts visually lengthen the leg and add shape to the hips, cut to the top of the thigh, they add visual definition to the thigh muscle.
Top half - depends on comparison of shoulder width to waist. Triangluar shaped (Shoulders markedly wide) can wear slim fitted vest top (preferably muscle backed. If the body and shoulders are slimmer then an unfitted vest top is preferable. Pear shaped? Wear a t shirt, visually widens the shoulders, with V neck to draw the eye.
Want me to stop or keep going...........
go and design a wedding dress, woman!!

(I should be worried that I worked out what "T & S" stands for)
