Peterhead to Fraserburgh Beach Run

Have just done this today - absolutely brilliant! Not quite sure how to create a rating for a race that doesn't appear on the website, but never mind. Wonderfully low key - just turn up, no pre-entry, no race numbers, no entry fee, just a fun affair. Very scenic if you like the sound of the sea - virtually all 17 miles are run on the beach. Therefore by definition flat and traffic free - and with a wonderful "get away from it all" feel. Wet feet also guaranteed - quite a few inlets to wade through, but it's surprising how quickly feet warm up again - the wading part was actually quite refreshing. At the other end: hot showers, soup, sandwiches and a "wee tipple" for those who felt thus inclined. The whole thing has been runnng for 15 years, usually just before Christmas, but the date always depends on the tide. Definitely on my list of runs to do again next year!

  • Ursula sounds like a fab run. Pity is clashed with another race in the area. Not sure about running all that way on the sand though, is it not a bit tiring on the calf muscles?
  • Oook!Oook! ✭✭✭
The best kind of race..no TV, no media hype, no celebs, no cars ...wonderful.

We have a similar 14M in the NE in the summer but don't tell anyone, it's a secret.
