Hi Damian
This will be my and my hubby's first fell race (could be our last!). I too are used to running on the flat - so far completed a couple of 15/20mins session of hill work on the treadmill and certainly took strain.
More practice me thinks!
Jane

DAMIEN - Unlike some fell races where there isn't even a start line, just a base camp, i'd say Rivington Pike is manageable.
From my experiences i'd say that it attracts road, fell, trail and cross country runners of all abilities.
Anyway good luck, you'll enjoy it.
