  • just checking in at reception for the new 'Sub 3' thread.

Wow, didn't think I'd be in the top 10 list for the year. Given that I'm not marathoning again this year, I expect to bumped out in the autumn.

    the (migrating) bat
  • S'pose an ALL TIME LIST or 2005 one is out of the question is it?

Thought so - I'll get me shell.

Got to say it feels a bit disloyal being in here.

hello to the sub 3 thread,

    help please

i have a question....someone suggested that i try yassos in preparation for my next marathon. prviously i have built up to 8 reps 2:58....does this mean i will break 3 hours

if this is any help, i am 22/25ths the age of dn

    nichs2,
you are clearly too old to be using modern technologies such as a stop watch. I suggest you apply for a special coffin dodging entry to FLM.

    Crab,
as I've pointed out earlier, this is a year agnostic fred, so I think the league table should be an annual rolling one, and only have your best time. Not that that suits me or anything..

    any objections ???
  • CartmanCartman ✭✭✭
I'll take that as a no then..

ii) gone sub 2.45 and am busy drinking magnums of champers
iii) died through heat exhaustion and dehydration (thanks to ineptitude of EM organisers failing to get extra drinks/water)

    Morning all,

D.N - You are the Kerry Packer of the sub 3 thread.....What's in it for me if i decide to join this rebel party?

A bit of a disappointing run-out last night for me in the first Yateley 10k managed a 37.15 ish, the conditions were pretty fierce with torrential rain at the start however no excuses, just felt as though i lacked basic speed.

    JH1- Did you run it?

  • JH 1JH 1 ✭✭✭
    GR

Yes did Yateley last night and it was pretty fierce rain for the 1st few k's. Had some bloke next to me splashing right in the puddles and getting my feet soaked. Managed 36.25 and felt knackered even b4 the start. Think the heat during the day just tends to drain you. Much prefer morning races. Got to 5k in 17.52 but think it's a tougher last 5k. Still hope to do sub 36 by the next one. So need a month of speedwork but am training triathlon from now on so it could get busy.

I have been missed out on the mara performance so added as below.

Gobi- welcome aboard, with a 3.05 in an ultra you should comfortably manage a sub 3 mara.
  • 15 posts and we're gonna start the what counts as a PB debate? Hadd and Yasso's will have to wait ;o)

On the basis we're unlikely to have entrants for the mill or track marathon records the only potential issue is over-distance races. FWIW my vote is anyone daft enough to run an uber-marathon should be able to enter a 26.2mile split on the basis that accuracy to the nearest nano-NAD (that's what you end up with after a 3.8km open water swim I reckon) over 26.2miles is not as important as over shorter distances.

All those in favour say 'Aye!'.
  • CRAB, not sure whether I agree. What if the split was 2:59:59 - how sure are we of the accuracy of these splits? Hmmm?

GR & JH1 - well done in Yately. We'll have to get the forum 10km rankings up once the results come through.

JH1 - keep working on that bike! I've cycled every day this week, including a 10+ miler - the endurance is starting to come back.

Also managed what I think is my first swim of the year. 40 lengths of my 12.5 meter pool. Although I started easy, I was pleasantly suprised how good it felt. Even pushing hard for the last 10 lengths it seemed that I didn't need as much air as last year. Having said that it was slow by my olde standards.
  • These are the splits from my 10k race last night.

Yet another classic example of Dull even pacing.

We didn't let DanA have his new 1/2M pb from his 20 mile race, so I'm not so sure about marathons PBs in ultras... very harsh I know..

I just want us to get to 20 posts so that we can get that annoying table off the page..

    jej,
i've cycled every day this week (day 4 time trial 56:35), but i have not done any running. my legs are like jelly at the moment and the cycling seems to drain all energy. i get that cnba feeling in the evening...

it's looking bad for st albans on sunday
  • GobiGobi ✭✭✭
    lol cheers GR

the problem is without being allowed to use my ultras I may not run another marathon this year. I only did Abingdon as a genuine marathon last year as a short notice entry and this year it is the same day as GSR.

Ok I may do the tripple but I will not be sub3 state if that is the case.

Looks like Cardiff the week before GSR and two weeks before the tripple is back on.

I'm sure biking was helping my running a few months ago, now I'm not so sure.. I'm just knacked all the time.

nichs2, are you eating enough ? Cycling burns just as many cals as running, specially if you are time trialing it...
  • Gobi Looks like you're in if His Royal Floppiness DN and Professor CM give you the thumbs up. Post up the ultra split quickly before the revolting masses arrive.

So the markers are down for FWOTM(JJA)10k vII then. Looking forward to it - I'll be the one limping at the back who'll look like I could maintain the pace for a number of years but have absolutely no chance of upping it at all to match you guys.

I quite fancy the triple too, sounds like a nice adventure. But I think this year I would prefer to try and move up the sub 3 table a bit, mind you don't know if that is going to be feasible and I suspect things are going to get a smidge competitive around the autumn time ;-)

CM - Its back in, just lurve tables
RB - I've removed your seond best effort, principally as it was a lot better effort than my best effort.
Crab - I did notice in this new table however this effort was slightly better than your best effort - come on now sort it out.

Added myself to the Cardiff Autumn marathon of choice list and the Dublin list. Also planning to do both.
