Sports injury clinics

Hi guys,
I'm off to a sports injury clinic tomorrow for the first time. For those of you that have been down this path before what should I expect? I'm having big trouble with my calf and I'm hoping that they can fix it or point me in the right direction. I'm paying £30 per half hour.
Cheers

  • I've had loads of trouble with my calves & visited 3 physios & 1 sports injury specialist. All charging between £20/30.
All of them have helped me recover from the injury (with varying degrees of sucess) but none of them have been able to prevent it happening again.
Tomorrow I'm off to see an Orthopedic surgeon, I'd rather see a podiatrist but my doctor reffered me to the latter. We'll see.

I have become very cynicle about Physio's/aports injury therapists. You will probably be given some stretches, ultra sound, deep massage & possibly acupuncture. All of which are said to speed recovery & break down scar tissue. None of which will deal with the root cause of the problem.

I am sure that out there, there are some physio's/SIT's who are also keen runners and who will treat us to the best of their ability & knowledge & ability. There are also some who will just go through the motions. I hope you are seing one of the latter.

All the best Woody mate, it's taken me 2 years to get this far. I've had some bloody good runs in between calf problems though.

Let me know how it goes.
  • Cheers Pizza Man,
I'll keep you posted on the outcome.
