  Stewart, do you mean that the cushioning has worn down or the outsole? Wear on the outside of the heel isn't unusual, as most runners land - to varying degrees - here. Also what shoes are you wearing?

  How long have you had the shoes, Stewart? About 300 to 500 miles is reasonable, depending on how heavy a runner you are.
